For those interested about FFE, I went through their 2 and 1/2 week orientation class and then the 6 week OTR(on the road) with a personal trainer. I have about 5 months solo currently after graduation so i know from experience how their training program works and feels. I do recommend them, however, its not for those who want to be babied along and handed a CDL. It was rough, a lot of people went home. Some were sent home for not being able to shift, some were sent home for medical reasons, some couldnt back a trailer appropriately, some for attitude, etc. I do not want to discourage you, but if you dont have your mind set on driving this is not the school for you. Its accelerated, you WILL learn to drive this truck, and your going to have some fun doing it (at least i did). Only real guesswork when you go is who your OTR trainer is going to be, but that's everywhere, not just FFE. Anyways if you had any specific questions, ill be more the happy to try and answer.

No, and they only take non-CDL students from Texas now. They still take CDL holders from other States for the refresher course.

    jomar68 Thanks this.

Thinking about refresher w/FFE ! What kind of running lanes are you driving ?? I'm in south Jersey, trying to figure out where I'll mostly be running. What is your home time like ? ( if any ! LOL ) Did they give you a junker ????? :yes2557: and did you have to share a room at orientation :biggrin_25511: Most of all !!!!! Do you like where your at ???

I run all over, with no lane to speak of. Home time is out 3 weeks minimum, with 1 day for each week out. I tend to stay out 4-6 weeks.
After being out with my trainer, I was given a 2011 Prostar. They are weeding out the "junkers".
Orientation? You mean at the academy? There you have 1-5 man rooms, and have no say in what you get. I got lucky and got a solo room.
After OTR training, you stay at a hotel in Lancaster and it's shared, but you can spend extra to have your own, which is what I did. I think its like $27/night.
Do I like where I am?.......Sometimes. Sometimes not.
BTW-we have an LTL terminal in Burlington, NJ. The load I just delivered was to Hawthorne, NJ. I think you'd do OK for home time.
