I believe any schooling is good. You will only get what you put in to it. Just cause you go to Harvard does not mean your a better lawyer, just looks good on paper. Your real training willbegin with a trainer and when your on the road. Everybody learns different and teaches different, gotta just look for your shoe that fits. Not bad to here from people here but do your own research not everybody's opinion is good for you but you will get some ideas. Good luck in your choice and be safe.

I honestly don't see why I should have math skills to be a driver, I can count 1 to 18 to know how many wheels I got ...isn't it enough?
-
Have to be able to do math for maps (trip planning) and weight distribution. As long as you can add multiply basics pretty much. I have my ged doesn't mean I'm good at math though. Guess it is just the fact of accomplishing it, don't really know.
-
Well I know I won't get ged because it's too hard for me I'm not even sure if I'd get that CDL since I have learning problems...
-
Like any other job,you do need a diploma or GED.
-
general mathematical skills are a must in trucking. as mentioned before, for trip planning, and effectively keeping up with your HOS.
nearly everyone requires, and will ask for diploma or GED, but most never confirm rather or not you have one. BUT, if you lie about it, you could be terminated for falsifying your application. -
Well I think I'll get welfare from obama then...

school is "free" (up front)with swift. but from what i understand a company school charges a weekly amount to recoup the cost. how much per week will it cost you??
you are expected to stay for a cetrain length of time.... how long?
lets say they say 2 years (ive no idea what it is). what happens if you leave after 6 months? you get some experience with them, and find that there are companies out there that will now pay you significantly more for the same job. or you find swift isnt giving you enough miles, or you just hate them. how much will you then owe?
how much will you owe if you wash out of the school? not everyone passed from my class when i was in cdl school. MOST did, but nice to know what the ramifications will be if you dont.
if you went to a PRIVATE school, how much would they reimburse for that school per week/month? (most larger companies do reimburse for a private school. this allows you the best of both worlds imo. swift would pay you BACK for school as long as you stayed with them, but youd have no tie to them, could leave whenever you found better job elsewhere)
