I used to train at a previous company. And most of the time you couldn't tell if the guy had went to a good long school or a short fast one anyway. Maybe in a one day school the newbie wouldn't learn a bunch of dumb stuff the trainer has to unteach them. Also, maybe they wouldn't have enough time to start thinking they know everything already and don't really need to be with or listen to their trainer.

A normal truck school is 4 weeks, 2 weeks classroom and 2 weeks behind the wheel, with the last day being the day you test at DMV. The 2 weeks "behind the wheel" is shared with 3 other students, so, you get, in theory, 2 hours a day behind the wheel, including skills. So each student gets about 45 minutes driving on the highway daily for 9 days, right ? That's less than 8 hours driving before he tests out at DMV. So, a one day "crash course" one-on-one is enough to get someone thru the DMV test. It helps if the student is truck savvy. Plus, he can do his bookwork as homework. There's a school in L.A. been doing this for 35 plus years.
