OTR Training or Free Team Driver?

I have heard a lot of new drivers on this site making references to thier OTR Training as almost a team operation. I for one would be outraged if a company did that to me.
When I did OTR Training with Schneider, the trainer sat in the passenger seat the entire time I drove and never went in the back. I drove and he coached.
Every now and then he would give me a break saying, "I'm bored, let me drive the next 100 miles." and I would sit in the passenger seat and he would show me a few tricks or some things to look for.
No matter what, if I was on line 3 then he was on line 4 and if he was on line 3 then I was on line 4.
If these trainers are in the back sleeping how are you ever going to really learn from them.

Just wanted to vent...what do you guys think?
