I thought about trying this place since my home base is Kokomo, Indiana but from what I read here it sounds like this place went from bad to worse.

Just seems like other companies are so much better.

Good luck to all who try it here, hope it all works out.

Any new info on this company and it's training. Seems like a few weeks back someone was having trouble and said her husband was OTR and not making much money.
Would be close for me !!!

The company is ok, 99 percent of the ones that are not making money are ones that whine and gripe at their dm's. most I talk to average 2500 to 3000 miles. and as far as leasing goes, the lease drivers train for the extra money sure, and that's the same with everyone that trains but lease divers make that payment with miles so no miles, no payment, they don't need to train to pay the lease and actually training us seeming to cause my trainer to work harder to make as much because they have special dm's and we have had to stay on top of them to make sure we got the miles I was able to drive vs. inexperienced students. The real problem with them is the school and the problems there aside from the mandatory teaming afterwards are about to be resolved with the new school building. Btw, if you get a good lease trainer like I did then he can not only teach you the driving but also learn you on how to lease from this company and earn a decent living doing it and then you won't even have to team.

Celadon aka Quality companies....bought out a company called Rock leasing in Huntington,In.

Nope - I am legit from Fort Wayne. I have seen a lot of posts for other schools but none for this one, so I thought I would make the info available for those who are interested. I included links to make people's lives easy; so people don't have to scour the internet trying to find it. I like to be helpful like that. It is in my technician nature.

Sorry you feel that way, whatthetruck, but I am the real deal. A guy trying to change careers. A guy who wants to share the experiences of a particular school that there isn't much info on. If I was going to the Swift academy, or Roadmaster, I probably wouldn't have started this. I do the vlog because some people like to visually see things. I started this because this is where I came first to learn about the different schools and companies out there. Truth be told, I applied to them 2 weeks after Stevens and Roadmaster. I didn't even know about the Celadon school until I stumbled upon it @ the in.gov website in a post about Celadon starting the school. I was researching WorkOne and grants to pay for school. If you want, I can post a link to the article I read.

I actually started reading the DocWatson posts about his Swift journey. Thought I might want to go in that direction. But, Swift doesn't have a terminal very close to me, Gary is the closest, so I had concerns about home time if I went with them. Then I found sheriff1/6. I got a bit concerned about Swift after reading his experiences. That is when I decided to try and get my CDL on my own - so I wasn't tied to a particular company with some sort of contract. I contacted Sage Schools @ Ivy Tech in Muncie, got all of their info, and tried to raise the money to go there. Couldn't come up with enough to go to school there and live for a couple of months until I started getting a paycheck. After that fell through, I contacted Stevens, then Roadmaster, ending at Celadon. My first choice was, and still is, Sage in Muncie, but that just doesn't look like it is going to happen. So I am going where I can to move forward in this plan.

    Peace[/QUOTE]

Any new info on their method of drug testing? Made a mistake by smoking some weed on NYE (before I decided to be a trucker), so I know for a fact that 95% of companies won't hire me because I won't be able to pass a follicle and/or blood screen which really slims down my career opportunities. Says on the website that drivers are subject to UA during orientation, but keywords being "during orientation". My question is, what happens after that's all over and done with?

Apparently, I need to attend a refresher course with them seeing as how I have my CDL but no experience. Anyone care to shed any light on this issue for me please? Really needing a job soon, and hoping my mistake doesn't cost me my career before it even starts. Any other companies that only do UA would be greatly appreciated too.

ua during the first week of school.Currently students are taking 5 weeks plus to get their cdl due to weather conditions.
After getting the cdl,you must pass a Celedon test which includes road test and 90 degree alley dock.I'm guessing if you pass the cdl test but fail the 90 docking exercise, you'd be in the same position your currently in,with a large school bill.

So id still get a huge school bill even if I don't even have to take their CDL course? And already obtain my CDL A?

Refreshers come through each week, don't think you'll be charged ,since you already have a cdl A.
They are buying new tractors and trailers, and have been buying up small companies recently.
Not a bad time to latch on with them and get some experience.
Once experienced, you will have other doors open for you.
