As stated i finally decided to take the plunge and go for it! finished up my physicals and testing in a couple days and now im ready to ship out to Swifts school out in AZ!. I must say that the recruiter was on point with all knowledge and questions that i had. I plan on updating my experience on here as i go through the course!. My being retired Army made most of this a breeze as i dont have to pay for schooling and only have to stay with the company for one year. Then i can choose what i want to do from there. Ive met many people who say swifts school is fantastic and the instructors are very knowledgeable.

I am a combat veteran and was injured overseas (IED crushed my spine had bunch of spinal fusions and what not) even with that injury and the extensive surgeries ive gone through, i passed the physical with ease, so for any of you vets or injured folks out there who think that being hurt or having chronic pain will keep them from doing what they are pationate about whats going out and trying going to hurt? worst that will happen is they will say no. Do not be afraid to just get out there and take whats yours.

Ill be taking greyhound from Chico CA to wherever AZ on either SAT or SUN cant WAIT! :biggrin_25514:

Good luck to you. Apparently you haven't read many of these forums where almost everyone states that swift is aweful. Please keep us updated and let us newbies what Swift is truly like thanks. Be careful out there on the road and feel blessed that you are still alive. I too am a military disabled vet.

I worked for swift back in 2010. It lasted 5 months. I didn't go to their school being that I had already been driving for 7 yrs. They didn't keep their promises. Bring home pay was around 350.00 a week. Now they have a class action lawsuit for screwing drivers out of miles. I was barely getting 1500-1800 miles a week. May be because I was out of the memphis tn terminal. Maybe freight will be better in az. They also lied about my pay per mile. I ws getting .30 mile if I ran east of memphis and .31 mile west of memhis. And 99℅ of the time I was east. I wish you all the luck. Hope its better for you than it was for me. Keep us posted. And on an end note and my opinion, if u haven't left yet I would check with other companies With a better reputation before I took that step. Again that is coming from the experience I had with them.

Good Luck, If you made it through Battle and being busted up like you have been, then Swift School should be a walk in the park! I am here in Phoenix area and see the Swifty trainees all over the place!, I wish you luck, please keep us informed as to what happens, But after all of the information on these forums I do not know why anyone would go to such a company that doesn't care if you are alive or dead? Take Care & Thank You for your Service.

I'm debating on going to Swift academy.
I'm a female and the trucking industry is more male dominant but I'm determined.
I called a recuriter today and she was so nice and willing to explain everything and break it down when it seemed like I didn't understand. I still have to wait a few weeks before I can get the ball rolling, being that I'm not quite 23. (A couple of weeks left of that)
I would be going to the academy in Texas but please keep us updated on your journey. Inbox me details if not shared on here. I would like to know all the information about what to expect when it's time for me to hit the ground running.

Oh and thank you for your service. I come from a long line of service men and women in my family. It's greatly appreciated.

    luvtotruck and Phatpope Thank this.

You being a female will be your least problem, If you are going to Swift, I too wish you luck, You are in a very good industry, But it isn't for those who are lazy, I'm not saying you are, I'm sure you are very determined but if you stick to it you can certainly do it. I wish you luck, If any of us can be of help to you let us know, we would be willing to help you, Stay away from the negative folks wherever they may be! Here in the school you go to whereever they may be. Good Luck, I'm sure you can do it!.

    Phatpope and Rookie0510 Thank this.
