okay guys, so this is small article expressing my experience going through exclusive trucking school located in los angeles california.. the only reason i'm writing my review is because I remember when I was looking for a trucking school i couldn't find any reviews about this school.
So i began school in mid August and i ended up finishing in mid December, i personally don't consider myself as a slow learner and for some reason i felt like this was an extreme amount of time to be in school.I was told that some people could finish as soon as five weeks but this wasn't my case. Additionally most of the other students that i encountered ( which started before me) where still there after i finished. This was one of the issues that I felt could probably be fixed by being able have more classes per week.
which leads me into another issue that i found with the school which is the scheduling, You are allowed class only three times a week and each class is only one hour. In class you basically have the truck to yourself to practice whichever hard skill you are working on (alley dock, parallel parking etc.)... i found that learning this way was actually one of the best ways to learn...the instructor gives you an example and shows you how to do it and then you just repeat and repeat until you figure it out for yourself.
On the good side, this school had training with a 10 speed truck, most of the other cheaper schools like el toro have 6 speeds and they don't teach you how to double clutch.Another thing was the fact that they give you three trys at passing the DMV test ( i passed on my first). Price is another factor; In my personal opinion the price was fair, i ended paying $1700 plus $100 for two power points the instructor offers after to start ( my best advise is to buy the power points because if you don't it will take wayyy longer to get to the next phase of training)
The school itself is a small family ran business, which has its pros and cons, my overall opinion of the school was pretty good; the instructor is a friendly guy when you get on his good side. He is patient with his students and he really helps out a lot when you actually go out on the streets, he gives great advice and is very helpful. Gloria which is the co-owner is also extremely helpful and made the whole process smooth and fast.Additionally I never had an issue about scheduling they were very professional and organized which is a HUGE PLUS!
The best advice i could give someone who is looking for a school is to do your due diligence. Also when you get to your school work hard and give it your 110%. And additionally if anyone needs any help or has any questions feel free to ask -
What the he ll is a "power point"?!?!?!
Never mind, I just realized they selling you a powerpoint class for your computer. Wow, some schools really differ...Last edited: Dec 21, 2013
