Anyone know about National Truck Driving School in Orange Park Fl? its accreditted seems ok it like $4500 its seem like that going rate. TDI in Sanford a joke. I been in construction I'm use to making $700-$1100 wk but then can go week or two no work. So I think this be great. Also in like 2-3 yrs wanna relocate to Mo. so driving could help that happen. I just wanna be trained good, should I just go to company training? I want to find a company and just grin and bear it for yr or 2 anyway for the exp. I see some companys you dont pay till yr. (PAM) etc.. For sure like to be able to choose. Any kinda loan for bad credit poor people? what this wia loan thing? What are good companys? Was thinking of CT Transport Savannah Ga. it flat bed no school training no rebursement. But think I could stay there for yr I hope. Also I'm short like girl hieght 5 4 any companys not have trucks for shorties? Wanna be home as much possible since never realy been away from wife kids. ANy info be great

Which being in Orange park is border line for Maverick. But both Schneider and Maverick are companies that focus on safety and good training.

Do not attend National they had problems here in Colorado and was closed down or was convinced to close their doors.

Roehl Transport has a Truck Driving School in Wisconsin. What they do is extend credit for the tuition of $2,400.00. If your credit is bad they allow you to have a co-signer. If you go with Roehl and drive for them as a solo driver for 120,000 miles the loan is paid for by them. For a team driver like I will be it is 240,000 miles. Roehl is a good company. My husband has been driving for them for over a year now and thats the reason I decided to go this route. We live in Missouri.

4500 is WAY more than you should be paying, I don't care if it IS the "going rate". It's the going rate because the government has given out so many grants in the past without questioning the cost and thus has driven up truck-training school tuition. You and I are now forced to get grants or pay through the nose for training if and when we go to one of these schools today. But I wouldn't be paying through the nose to learn how to simply drive 18 wheels. Considering how insecure the industry is overall and how rickety a driving job is these days, I'd definitely play the game and get a grant. I would not pay even one penny for training. That training is substandard anyway, as after you graduate and hire on with a company, you have to go out with a trainer for what? Yeap....More training.

I'd also not sign an indentured servitude contract. I'd get a grant to pay for my training or I'd find another industry where I could get a training grant. Let the government pay your way or make the companies pay your way. As desperate as companies supposedly are for drivers these days, you shouldn't have to pay one red cent for training. If anything, fresh hires at trucking companies should be being paid bonuses for hiring on with companies. Hell, nurses are in such high demand they get bonuses of several thousand dollars when they walk through a door at a new job for the first time.

And those going to trucking school are PAYING THIER OWN #### TUITION? And the only bonuses they get are pathetic, per-month reimbursements of that tution, reimbursements that will take years to be fully paid, assuming they stay at their outfits that long? What is wrong with this picture, folks?

If companies WERE as desperate as they claim, you'd be PAID to become a driver at some of the bigger boys. The fact that no company pays the type of bonuses nurses get makes the "driver shortage" claim an even bigger lie than it is.

thanks they just now showed up. Does ROehl pay for room board etc.? Do they allow you to live in Florida? Whats best company school?

While I do not know anything about National I would not recommand going through ANY company's training program. I do not care what the company is, they are going to push you through and then have your trainer do the actual teaching you how to drive. My personal OPINION is that you locate a good driving school. The way that I found a good driving school was by contacting OOIDA (Owner Operator Independant Driver's Association) and they mentioned Alliance Tractor Trailer Training Center.

I wish you luck on your search for a driving school... Just remember when you get out there with your trainer that you do NOT know everything about driving that truck just because you graduated driving school. I use to train and that is the misconception by a lot of trainee's. (I am not saying that you would be that way, just giving some advice).
