Am wondering if anyone went to crowder on their own rather than for con-way.
Seems it is mostly used for or by con-way students so was wondering if anyone went there and then went to work for someone other than con-way?

    Thanks

Providing that I am not mistaken or wrong, I believe that Crowder truck driving students have also gone on to work for Tyson Foods out of Springdale Arkansas.

Which is a way better option. 70 mph truck, APUs, 39 cpm starting solo pay.

I went to Crowder because I had family in Neosho. Once I was there not too many companies wanted to take me on living in Florida, so I went with Conway since most of the people there were going with them anyway.

When I was there there were a few guys going with O'Reilly's local. One older guy that was getting a refresher to go local in his area. One guy that went with Werner and everyone else went with Conway (about a dozen people). Out of all the people that went with Conway only 1 guy is still working there after 2 years.

My wife and I plan on attending Crowder Comm College next yr and we will be paying for it out of our pocket !!! .. Nearly all companies hiring new drivers will take your training at it is CCC considered one of the best schools in the nation...

It is not Conways TL school.. its an Accredited Community College.. But they do hire from there heavily..

    Thanks alot.
Some, in fact all 3 of the recruiters I talked to said they werent familiar with Crowder but I did call and talk with Paula at CC who really knows her stuff. She told me it was a 200 hour course and your right it is accredited and not a con-way entity but rather a schools they use. Im going on my own dime too which will give more options...
Best of luck to you and your wife next year.

I graduated from Crowder almost 4 years ago (April 1, 2010). Paula and Darrin (head of the school) are really great people. Darrin was my instructor before he became "the Boss". I paid my own way, was the first one to do online school and all day (one on one) work with Darrin and I would join in the other classes when he was busy (he had to go teach Tyson how to do PTI's...LOL). They are a third-party tester so you take your road test right there with another instructor. My first company was US Xpress.......anyone going to Conway has to go to Crowder for what they call Boot Camp.

I went to Crowder in November of 2006 and they did an excellent job. Conway (used to be CFI) used them then and uses them now for new drivers and student driver boot camp so they along with me would disagree with the previous post. Good Luck, Jim

    HI

You might want to look into Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield. Its the only PTDI certified school now in the state of Missouri. They guarantee you 44 hours of individual instruction where its just you and the instructor. I believe at Crowder theres 3 to a truck. They also have a high tech simulator they use for training. The price of two are about 3500 bucks.
