Anyone with WIA in FL? And how much?

Please list single/married/# of children too.

Most WIA posters seem to be about $5000 to $5900 elsewhere in country, but local FL Roadmaster sales jockey said today $3500 which may be right. That's about the difference in FL unemployment to the rest of the country. BUT Froggy on PEL thread said he got $5000, which I'll take an unknown web poster over a scam salesman most any day, if I'm not scammed lol.

FL Roadmaster sales jockey also said $3500 good for Roadmaster school too, which I'm not going to find out if true.

I'll find out next Friday at WIA orientation, but it seems like lots of students in FL here that may have had WIA in FL.
Like Butthead (of Beavis and Butthead) says, "Come to Pappa, huh, huh-huh, huh-huh-huh".

well I am not from Fl but I was told the Wia can go up and down daily.

Just rember that just because you are going to orentation does not mean that you have been approved.

There will be some stuff that you will have to research and fill in.

I got my Wia in Adams county they told us the sooner that we get the paperwork in the sooner they can present the case and get the yea or na on it.

I turned my paperwork in on the same day as orentation and got approval the following week.

We had a limit of 5k and my school only cost 4260 at sage it paid for the permit, drug screen, physical, school, cdl license.

The only way that was all paid by Wia is the school said that it was all included in the touition and needed at the start of school.

Thanks for the heads up MGASSEL!

WIA orientation is on Friday's locally in Bradenton. And Mid FL Tech orientation is on Tuesday's 122 miles away in Orlando. I'll need to blow 10 gallons of gas Tuesday to be able to do my WIA on Friday.

That helps me prioritize events, as I want to delay things at much as possible until need them.

Well were I went for the wia I probaly spent only 6 bucks on gas but it was about 80 miles round trip for me I did all of the research there at the workforce center they let me use their computers due to the distance. You may want to ask if you can just do all of the stuff there too so it will save gas.

1 fill up for school would last me about 5 days I have a 15 gallon tank and a 4 banger engine that was getting about 400 miles to the tank but the fill ups at that time was 40-45 bucks. would of gotten better mpg if it was not for all the jerks on the roads were I was going.

I was also working part time and making aprox 1800 per month but showed most of it went on bills I offered to pay for my own gas which I did but they will help you on the gas too I think it is 20-30 bucks a week.

MGASSEL,

$1800/mo part time is great. That's 40 hrs/wk at $11.25/hr. That would be the ticket. May I ask what you did for that pay part time?

wia

guys I live in stuart and went on the wia program with national trucking in Orange Park, near Jacksonville. wia paid all including 3 week resident training with motel.and gave me a $20.00 gas card. National training seemed to me to be a better school and 300+ credit hours,it also is accredited school.check into it

How much money did WIA give you? A $20 gas card is irrelevant.

Thanks

I may move to a Jacksonville 'storage shed' if they give you $5000.

Wia paid I believe about $5500.00.Have your unemployment rep check into it,Remember the person from roadmasters is a recruiter. He will tell you what he wants you to believe is true.Just have them check into other schools.I personally went to national truck driving school.

Wow, our Suncoast Counties must 'pocket' $2K of Fed funds on our WIA! If other FL counties are the nation average WIA, that would indicate something rotten down here. But it would cost more than $2K to move.

Truck driving sounds great, but the hours and scheduling demands are killers. I'd really like to work Regional on weekends dropping and picking up load to/from Marietta, GA so could see my parents weekly for about 1000 miles on weekends regularly. But that may be a pipe dream, and there may be an easier way. I may wait until Bush is impeached or gets out of office anyway. Everyone is reeming the truck drivers from all directions, but its still the best occupation left in the country. Even the RN market down here is over saturated and they are getting ripped of in the same way as truck drivers: constant hiring, firing, and perpetutual low pay for a signifcant portion of payrolls.
