You must have a valid NC drivers licence to enroll and NC CDL permit before school starts....

So you will have to reside in NC to get a licence.

I think I'm going to go to the weekend classes. It's a 2 hour drive for me but for less than $500 for the entire class I can fork out money for a hotel on Sat nights. I spoke to the head guy down there this week. He said they have partnered with a hotel near the driving range and you can stay there for $45 a night. The only kicker for me is going to be the Thursday night classroom sessions and the first week is Tues, Wed and Thur night in class. They do that so that you can get in the truck and start practicing that first weekend. I'll probably take a few days off from work that first week and just stay down there. Wish I could just go to Davidson Community College but they are not doing any evening or weekend classes this year and I cannot afford to be out of work for 2+ months. Sampson seems to be the best option for me so I'm kinda excited to get going in Sept. Plus...for under $500 I don't have to team drive or work in low pay sit and wait for loads foreverville so that's another bonus.

Change of plan for me...been accepted into Conway Freight LTL school here in town. 12 weeks but I get to work p/t on the docks @ $15/hr while in school. No OTR! Excited about the opportunity!

    ncmickey Thanks this.
