you're getting ripped off
Most companies will charge you $3000 for THEIR training, and you pay them back slowly.
I don't know if England still does this, but for a while they were offering Free training if you stick with them for 6 months, meaning that if you leave before its over they bill you $3000. I also belive that Central will charge you $1500 if you stick with them for a year, if you leave before the year (or before the $1500 is paid off) they charge you the full $3000
don't attend a big school, you walk out with no real experience and you STILL have to start off at the same place every other rookie does, so its just easier to attend a company-sponsored school.
if you like numbers, they provide transportation, they provide the classroom and learning, and at the end of the day YOU walk out with much more than they invested into you. yes, they charged you $3000 but in a year you walk away with $20,000. I know it sounds like a Nigerian Scam.littleduck Thanks this. -
You would be better off going to a community college truck driving training school in NC, IMO. Look for the closest one to you. Much cheaper than 5500
You could go to JCC which is 1200 and stay at a hotel for $200 a week. Sampson CC is only $500 + a hotel. Or find a room to rent for the 2 months..if none are in driving distance....
As far as loans, contact the schools. They would have info....littleduck and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
I will tell you what I just told someone else, I am starting at roadmaster next weekend and I did a cashout refinance on one of my vehicles. Its still a loan but at a lot lower interest rate. Plus mine had lower cash tuition.

You don't need a loan and you don't need truck driving school! You need to research some other options. 5500.00 is absurd! Don't do it.

In North Carolina, Goodwill Industries will pay for CDL school and free to you.

The school Im going to charges $4200 for an 8 week 160 hour course at 5 hours per 4 days a week. However my GI Bill pays for it. I didnt want to be put into indentured servitude with one of the big carriers for a year when a lot of companies pay rather well for student drivers straight out of CDL school. I think $5500 is a bit steep, and would steer clear if possible. As chinatown specified http://www.goodwillnwnc.org/news.cfm?aid=246

I thought the 5500 was pretty steep to and I had thought about doing the company paid trianing but it seems like everybody has mixed thoughts on it some say its a good wayvtobgo some say dont do it so its just confuseing right at the moment and ive got a little while to do research cause im planing on attending a school around August or September as long as nothing major happens so I think im just ganna find a few more schools and look into them and also look into the community college and some company paid training thanks everybody yall be safe out there
