Hello! 1st time, scored 6 on straightback and got so nervous I just quit. 2nd time pointed out on a drivers side parallel, at the time I was still pretty green This time I'm most certain I'll get out of skills alive and make it to the drive. It's been a few weeks of skill practice Problem Is my school only drives on Thursdays lately and just need to watch out for automatic fails. I guess I wouldn't be posting if I wasn't nervous and would love some feedback. I'm sure this is a reoccurring post. Thanks!
Take My 3rd and final CDL exam at DMV friday.

The key to getting your cdl is to pass your pre trip and manuevers. Once you get to the road test you have much more room for errors as long as you dont run over a curb on right turns or stall out too many times. Practice straight line until perfect. You have to be perfect with it meaning no mirrors over cones because you are leaning too much on one side. Go slow in 2nd or first when pulling through the cones to setup. Make sure you look in both mirrors to see that there is equal space. Once you set up make sure your steers are straight and dont oversteer! There is a way to do parallel that will get you in the box by using steps and reference points. Plenty of great youtube videos to help you on that one. Alley dock: you gotta do your best. Know the truck, know the rules in your state. If it looks ugly trying to get in its best to pull around and reset. If this is your last back hopefully you didnt accumulate any points. The most important tip is to relax and breathe.
Neon Cthulhu Thanks this. -
Here In sunny Fresno Ca. We do a mandatory straight back, also mandatory left or right offset not both and either a parallel or a alley dock once again not both. Passed pretrip 1st time don't have to mess with it on friday.

On my test I had to do straight back offset to left and alley dock. In Georgia you get 2 points deducted for each error and 1 point deducted for using extra pullups. If you honk your horn and you are not within the boundary that is 10 points. You get 2 goals for last 2 backs and 1 for straight line. Anymore goals and you fail. My instructor took us to state dmv twice so we can see how the test would be given. It was a guy in a day cab with a 48 foot trailer doing 90 degree alley dock. It took him no less than 8 mins if not 10 to honk his horn. The guy pulled up at least 6 times including a reset. I thought he was done but sure enough his examiner hopped in the truck so he could drive on the road test. The driver played it smart. He didnt let the time break him apart: you got 2 hours for the whole test. He made the necessary corrections. He saved his one goal for the box at the end which is important if you cant afford 10 points. You should do good as long as youre prepared to keep your head up high no matter what. Trust me you want the feeling of getting your class a.Only you can do this for you. Good luck!
