hey all, i haven't found a thread on this particular school, so if i missed it somewhere, forgive me. first and foremost: this school is geared towards a Class A 160 hour program. the ENTIRE first week was spent getting ready to take the FL permit test. we did not SEE a truck until the following week. heads up to new students: you can get ur permit for free at the local dmv, after studying the Florida CDL handbook. if you fail the first try, it is $5 for retakes. you can do 2 tests a day, five days a week until you pass the permit test.

this school is rather dated, old auto repair building with poor facilities. 1 computer for 26 students to practice their general knowledge, air brakes, and combination vehicle tests. it took a day and a half to rotate everyone thru that 1 computer. the classroom, materials, and desks were also very dated...the lunch room was an open air garage bay formerly used for auto repairs.

the equipment they use is better quality than the class room though, i will give them that. many trucks were missing knobs, buttons, etc. and the trainers said that if the students don't care about the trucks, neither do they. :biggrin_25510:

i don't mean to sound negative about the school, but get ur rep to give you a tour before you sign on. and, ask if you can get a discount if you already have a permit. that can save u almost 2 grand, and a week with struggling students!! and finally, before u sign on, ask which companies these schools work with. several companies may not hire based on where you reside. good luck!! :biggrin_255:
