Sometimes you just have bad luck at a school.....

Let me tell you my sad tale, just for giggles. So we (my class) start school, the first 5 days, it's all classroom, in fact, it's too much classroom, more than we need to pass our tests and get our learner's permits. So by day 7, we all have our permits and are ready to drive. Up to that point, our instructor was a sold industry professional and teacher. Our second day of driving, he announces that it's his last day, he's scored a cushy gig with the Transit Authority teaching bus driving skills to new hires over there. We are then given a succession of teachers for the next 10 days, no sooner do they learn our names than they disappear, because they're fill-ins. The school is apparently having a rough time finding a replacement teacher. So they eventually hire this crazy woman who was just certified as an instructor and we're her first assignment...lucky us. So she had never taught ANYTHING before and it turns out that when she was a driver, her husband did most of the driving and her license was for emergencies and also a handy tool to fake the log books. She was SO SCARED to let us drive the truck, she would actually scream at us. She would tense up in her seat and change colors. She criticized us our shifting technique relentlessly, GOD HELP YOU if you forgot the splitter and stalled the truck! It was a brutal experience, and the truck school was seemingly indifferent

 

Yes, after the second attempt. The first attempt was valuable though, it was the longest stretch of uninterrupted driving I'd had, because that crazy lady instructor kept losing it and throwing us out of the seat. You may ask how she got away with her crap on us, she was beautiful....she had a lot of sex appeal, So we're 3 guys and we cut her a lot of slack. As an instructor though, it was like learning driving skills from a hood ornament.

 

I enjoyed one of the fill-in instructors we had for 2 days. He was 70 plus years old, a widower who recently got a 40-something girlfriend who was apparently training him up for some kind of sexual Olympics. He was only too-happy to give us the blow-by-blow. He was so good that it was difficult for him not to float-the-gears, using the clutch pedal was strangely difficult for him.

 

Funny you should mention that....the sexy driving instructor was Sofia Vergara before she hit it big....just kidding.....
