I have read many times, and been told by a company or two, that I should apply for employment at the beginning of Driver Training School, I think in my case things may be a bit different, or am I overthinking this?
The program I am enrolled in is here; http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...254924-how-does-program-stack-up-against.html , it is 12 weeks rather than the typical 3-5 week program.
My question is; should I apply when I begin, or wait about 6 weeks to start submitting applications? The program ends the day before Thanksgiving, (fwiw). I intend to submit a "truck load" of applications, I have two pages of companies written down and links bookmarked for prospective companies to apply to in hopes of landing a good starting job.
Begining School Monday Sept. 8!

From everything I have read here, apply now. And, good luck to you.
PeteAlaska76 Thanks this. -
Are you planning on running on the North Slope? If so, do you live within easy reach of a terminal? I'd start applying now and even before getting into school go visit some of the terminals and talk to a recruiter, maybe get a chance to look around and see their equipment and talk to some of the drivers. Face to face is best and getting on with a company with a terminal near you is best.
The school seems to be head and shoulders above anything required to get a standard certificate and be hired by a mega. The mantra in the lower forty is to barely get 40 hours BTW time and THEN get real training on the job. -
If you are in a decent school, they will have recruiters and job announcements for you to check out. We've had a steady stream of both here.
