Started Vincennes University Training Today - Dec 1st. Excellent first day!

Class started right at 8AM and we did a little paperwork and introductions. I love the fact there are only 4 students (including me) in the Class and it's being taught by a very seasoned Driver/Trainer (over 40 years in the biz; mostly driving). The facility is beautiful; clean classroom with the feel of new and well taken care of. The class faces a huge warehouse that Vincennes runs and teaches Logistics and Warehouse Management classes and runs a 'free book' distribution program for local schools. What a great way to give back to society and give the school a great warehouse business to run.

On a side note: as part of our training (it's 6 weeks long, Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM, with flexibility around the Holidays), but as part of our training we get a FREE 2 day Forklift class (worth around $400 bucks) and our certificate in Forklift. Wow, a great perk.

The instructor is totally into flexibility. By 10AM we were being shown our first Pre Trip Inspection and watched 3 more before the end of day 1!!! As part of our classwork, we will take a few field trips; first one tomorrow to the BMV to try to get our Permits. We are also going to go check out during the 6 weeks some new major developments in the Indianapolis logistics field. Wednesday the Doc comes in and we get our physicals, permits this week and IN THE TRUCK by mid to end of WEEK 1!

I'm loving it... only HOPE that my funding comes through. The class is $3500 and I'm really hoping the State comes through with some assistance. Also the Vincennes scholarship team is looking into some monies. GREAT thing about going to a University: you go to school and get billed later!

PLUS, we already had our first recruiter (Roehl) come in today and give us his presentation. Overall a very great first day and start to an exciting career. SVH
