Hi! I finished last week with Sage in NC at a community college (112 class room hours, 44 driving hours= 156 course hours) and it was a great experience.

The class was small, only 4 students, and I drove 5 different trucks (Ryder rental 10-speeds with different engines, suspensions, Meritor tire-inflation systems, and cab-styles as well as an 8 year old well-maintained Freightliner owned by the school) and had 4 drive instructors. My one-on-one drive time was excellent and I tested out on my final drive session with a DMV Examiner. Yesterday I got my CDL with Hazmat endorsement, tanker, double/tripples (If you want Hazmat & tankers get your TSA Assesment done the first week of school because it'll take about two weeks to get your clearance). All of this in 4 weeks for one who had NEVER driven a tractor-trailer before but had the desire to get through it and start a new adventure (going with KLLM next week).

Class/drivetime was $3400 and additional fees are $300 approx. So, it's worth every penny, in my opinion and when I get out there and meet other graduates I'll see how they stack up with graduates from other programs.

Thanks to Sage and a great bunch of veteran drivers (waving to Ethan, Dean, Roger, Wayne, Marcus, Larry, Lewis, & Henry's Dock Works) who brought them to NC. Good luck to you!!! Go! -cj.

Which sage location did you go to in NC? I was looking into the Isothermal Community College location. Thinking that would be nice by the mountains - learn a litl about downshifting. What did you do for housing while you were there? Congrats on the job and thanks for the post.

Howdy. I live in Michigan and wanting to go to trucking school in my home state. I found out that obtaining cdl from a PTDI accredited school vs non accredited, makes quite a difference when you're applying for your first trucking job and how companies look at you. So, straight to business...I can't find a reasonably priced PTDI school in Michigan. There's a trucking school through Baker College, which is PTDIed but the cost is whopping $10,000 and the program length is 20 weeks long! Another dilema is I'm not qualified for any financial aid/assistance, don't mean to brag about it, but $10K for a trucking school? That's just ridiculous. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S. has anyone heard anything about Ohio Truck Driving Schools: HR Career Development Truck Driver Training Academy?

    pcozzy Thanks this.
