Help 2 Good Schools in Utah.

I have been wanting to be a truck driver since I was a kid and have looked into it several times over the past 20 years. For one reason or another I have not gone past just looking. This time around I am serious about getting into, not just for the money, but just to fulfil my childhood dream. Don't get me wrong, I do want a decent paycheck, but mostly want to just travel a little and drive a big rig. I found this site by searching online and have been reading it for a week now. I am getting mixed feelings now about trucking with all the bad reports out there. It just seems that all the truckers here are just not happy, I know people need to vent and for every one that says something bad about trucking there are probably 10 that love it. I hope this true, but my main question is what is a good school to attend in Utah, and any advise as to what trucking company based out of Utah is a good one to start with. I don't want to get bent over on my first job. I did talk with Roadmasters and they advised against CR England and Swift for whatever reasons, and reading post I would stay away as well. Does anyone know the difference between Sage and Roadmasters? Which is better?

Where is Biker? He's gonna be going to school in Utah and he's leaving tomorrow! Maybe he can tell us if it's good or not.

One of the things I've learned through the years is to take negative BS with a grain of salt. Attitude is 99.9 percent of any job. A school is going to recommend against any company as they want your money.

I'm off tomorrow afternoon for Salt Lake City for a Monday start date on class. I'll be reporting back (hopefully regularly if I can snag some notebook time from a fellow student).

Just curious, Why so far away from where you are? I looked at CR England as well, but was suggested I look elsewhere. A former employee their, a recuiter says they push the lease program way to much and its not a good program. Just be careful.

In today's economy, it doesn't make sense to lease anything..... I've posted elsewhere on the site why I'm going to Salt Lake, but it has to do with my lack of a few important documents. Otherwise, I'd be headed to Dallas instead.

I know I'm going into the lion's den, but I'm going in with my eyes open. I don't mind staying on the road weeks at a time, so I suspect I won't have much of an issue.

Well they seem to have nice trucks, I don't ever see one on the side of the road broken down. Good luck and do keep us updated.
