I just saw on TV that HD Net (HDTV channel) has a 'news segment' Tuesday night 8.30pm...on Trucking Schools.

Dan Rather is doing the segment and you can be sure that he'll not have ANYTHING good to say on the subject.

I have it scheduled to record.

We finished up our 1st month of school this past week...80 hours down, only 400 more to go! My word has it gone by fast! I picked up a set of Walls insulated bib coveralls yesterday from Wal Mart. Our 'range' is next to the waterfront and that wind really cuts through you. The last 10 weeks of school is spent on the range...gonna be a cold Dec, Jan, Feb and early March!

We are starting this week to get our applications put together along with all of the necessary documents. A lot of the guys in school need to have items expunged from their records..I'm sure that this will limit their abilities to get certain jobs. Fortunately all of the info from "Hire-Right" (used to be called USIS) came back ok on me.

Ok...finishing up week 6 tomorrow. Hey only 20 more weeks to go

Yesterday we had on of the Werner guys in giving us his "pitch." I just sat back and kept my mouth shut. Theer were a few things he said that irritated me, and after talking with some of my class mates, they felt the same way.

Why do these recruiters talk about "Their competition?" I mean, who really gives a rats ##### about 'their' competition. Just tell what you have to offer and let us be adult enough to decide.

Whatever....

Ok so I finished up week six on Thursday. I have raised my GPA from 95.7 to 96%...I'm cool with that.

Friday a few of us went over to the MD MVA and took our tests for our Permits. This was the second time for me. I was pretty ticked off at the questions that MD uses for their testing, and failed the first time on Tuesday. So I buried myself in MD's book and retook it on Friday...passed all three.

So now I have my permit.

My goal is to have Doubles/Triples, Tankers and Haz Mat done by Christmas. I also have a goal of having my TWIC card and Passport by then too. Now just to find some way to come up with the money.

Starting week 8 this week coming up. Actually, we are closed on Thanksgiving and will make up Thursday on Sunday...so Wednesday will be my last day of 'indoor' classes. I can't believe how fast this has gone by.

Right now we're in as repetitive mode and since I have my CDL Temp license, I am chomping at the bit to get to the range, get some road trips in and graduate.

We had a former student who graduated earlier this year in today and he talked a bit about his experiences.

The recruiter from US Express was supposed to be in yesterday afternoon, during the evening shift, but I couldn't hang around to listen to him.

I have in mind what I'd like to do when I graduate...so I have plenty of time to get some apps out before March.
