Drivers Training in Alhbuquerque

I am starting school tomorrow (Monday) here in Albuquerque. After much research I decided to attend Rocky Mountain Truck Driving School.
I will post my experiences here as it progresses.

I already took my drug screening and passed my DOT Physical. Picked up my CDL Manual and have been reading it and taking online sample tests in an effort to pre-prepare (is that a word?).

The first week is classroom and we end the week with our taking the CDL written to get our CDIP.
The next three weeks are spent doing pre-trips, driving (backing, city, highway, etc), post-trips. The end of the third week we will take our skills test in the truck that we learned in.

I can say that my initial impression of the school has been very positive. Nice facilities and extremely nice office staff.

That's all that I know right now. I'll log another entry after tomorrow's first day.

Day One: Started on the General Knowledge section of the manual. The instructor seems very knowledgeable. He has been in the industry for a lot of years. He explains things very well so that everyone can understand. Encourages questions.
Doesn't paint a rosy "you are going to get rich your first year of driving" picture. He is very realistic in what you will make as a newbie versus what you can earn after a couple of years. I appreciate the honesty.

He makes one guarantee..."If you don't study the CDL manual you will not pass the test."

More to come.

I finished the week of classroom and took my test on Friday for my CDL A Permit. I passed with flying colors as well as getting my tank and double/triple endorsements. Four other guys in my class were at the same MVD that I was and they too were easily passing.

The instructor was GREAT! He was informative and knowledgeable and really cared that we ALL pass.

Monday I go into the field. If the driver trainers are anything like the classroom instructor I am going to learn a lot and learn it well. I would highly recommend Rocky Mountain Truck Driving School in Albuquerque.
