Good luck Brad. One thing; The test questions are not the practice ones you see at the end of each section. I took permit test two months ago and was surprised and made my own study guide which helped me pass it.

I highly recommend anyone thinking about school to get the manual ahead of time and start reading.

Yep, tests at the DMV the next 2 days. They say if everything goes well we may be in the truck this Friday.
I do hope so! Thats when the fun starts. We had 7 in the class. But only 2 range trucks at the time.Day trucks. There was a sleeper there but we didn't use it.There was one guy there that was taking a AL. test Some how he got truck all by him self. Its to late to tell you put I went and took my test before I when to tdi.I do believe that alex is the best instructor.See if you can go with him.1/2 day range 1/2 road. I'll tell you He's somethang. But we had one student that just had to do it his way,and don't listen to instructions. So alex went and sat down next to me at the table. And we watch him over and over mess up, run over cones and blamed the truck for every thang. After about 45 mins in the truck he got out. Said I can't do it. Alex said you do not listen you will not do it. Alex listen to him for awhile drew in the sand, used his lighter as a truck an cig pack for the trailor. Them alex got tired of listen to ( I can't do it). Alex said I can do it with no hands. I was like come on. I can do it. But no hands. Alley dock now.At first he lines up at the start and said I have to get my trailor turn alittle and straighten the wheels. Than no hands. So he did not much moving at all.Than alex turns sticks his head out the window with two hands lighting a cig. Bam! Trailor in the hole. Now he has to turn the wheel to get the tractor under trailor. Stops opens the door and said why can't you do it. That student listen to him and so did I to end of school great guy!!!!

Yep, school is over. I tested Thursday and went to the DMV on Friday and got my CDL with the works. I took the hazmat, tanker and doubles/triples and passed all those. So now I guess I have to go get a job.... I've been calling some company's during my down time at school and have a couple that want me to call back, so hopefully by next week sometime I have an orientation date set up with someone. I was very pleased with the school. All the instructors were great.

If I may pass off a little advice, you can do it but you really have to want to. Don't listen to anything negative. All the naysayers and the "how many times can I take the test" people fall very quickly. Don't plan to fail. You will be nervous and have bad days - hang in there it will come when you finally relax. Remember if you can't figure something out after many tries that the instructors work for you - grab one and ask for help. They are more than helpful but may not help if you don't ask. Set your ego aside and realize you can do it given time. If it were easy all the sad sacks would be your competition for a job. I wouldn't worry to much about a fender bender -- be honest. It takes a long time to start looking smooth don't be to hard on yourself. There will be show offs and know it alls. Work at your own pace and be proud of your accomplishments no matter how small. It's 90% attitude. Get plenty of sleep. Don't worry to much about job calls until its over. Stay focused. I have faith in you man. You WILL be one of the proud.
Crane, great advice. Success comes from a good attitude.
Just curious, you said 7 graduated from 18 that started. How many of them dropped out before the test? I am starting my third week now. We started with 32 and only lost two. I am sure 90% of the class will pass.

Truck driving school

now truckdriving school is not a bad thing but what they dont tell you in school is once you graduate the school it enabels you to get your CDL; it does not make you a truck driver or give you the expeirence needed to become a driver , it gives you the license to learn and there is a lot to learn, and you can not learn it all in a prking lot or 3 or 4 miles up and down the interstate.

you can learn of course but it takes time and a good attude and im sure most of you will do fine.

good luck' southernpride

Oh yeah, I realize I've got a ton of learning to do. I actually hope I end up with a company with a little longer training period. I figure the longer training can only be more helpfull.

The endorsements are $7.00 apiece. Then you have a background check and fingerprints for the hazmat, that runs $91.00.
