Hey guys. This is my first post here but ive read quite a bit on here. I have a 2002 Peterbilt 379 with a C15. Its a 6NZ and its rated at 475hp. Im wanting to get a little more power out of it cause it hauls 80000lb daily. It has the 10sp rated at 1850 i think. Im wanting to get the platinum power harness cause after all ive read on here about cat dealers and the low nox files i dont want that to happen to mine. Im only able to make about 20-25 pounds of boost out of this thing. I was wondering where this boost sensor is on the motor. Is it on the driver or passenger side and exactly where at? Im going to get the power pack just wanting to know where the boost sensor is. Also do i have an acert C15? Thanks i have learned alot on this site.

To answer your question...the boost sensor is on the drivers side of the motor and is usually screwed right into the head where the intake tract runs. But before you start looking at the power harness and power box you should make sure your motor is healthy first. Your boost numbers sound about 5 PSI low. I would check the intake system for leaks and have the overhead ran while your at it if it hasn't been ran in awhile. Also read some of the other CAT threads and you will see a few other suggestions on what can be done to get your kitty to purr.

No you don't have a ACERT. The ACERT motors have a BXS, MXS, and NXS prefix. Your motor is just a regular C-15 and one of the better CAT motors built. You should already have the low nox files in your ECM right from the factory if I remember right so your pretty much out of luck there. If you're serious about building a motor that will have a long life and plenty of pulling power I suggest a tuned ECM or a Bully Dog. Either of these two will give you the best bang for your buck.

6NZ, last of the best. not an Acert. boost sensor on drivers side behind air comp. look for a junction of two hard lines 1 marked fuel the other marked coolant. right behind this is a weather pak connector with 2 wires. thats the boost sensor.
FWIW,fuel temp harness works great but boost harness will make truck smoke alot. cant go to Cal with it . 475/1750 tq 25 psi is about right. a good start would be an ecm reflash to 550/1850 and some good #s. there are members here who can set you up. someone will chime in.... also you already have the low nox file from the factory.everything built after 1/1/99 has it.

If i put the power harness on it, will it make much of a difference with low nox file on it already? What kind of money am i looking at to get a new ecm or flash mine to get rid of the nox file? Whats the Bully Dog? Thanks for the info guys.

flashing the ECM is the most bang for your buck........you can actually reflash it to a 600hp file if you want. Have a moderator PM a message to me if your interested
