To do it the correct way you have to change heaps. Injectors, cam, pistons, and high pressure turbo are all different on a 625. That said some guy have done the flash without the iron changes and are happy with the results, otherwise a PDI ECM or Bullydog tuner will give the same result.

Does it matter if the sticker on the oil cooler says "max adv hp 625" when it was ordered new as a 475? Just curious because all the others I have say "max 550hp" on the 6nz's or "max 525hp" for the MBN and have been all uprated to what this same label says but my MXS says 625. Made me think there were no hard parts needed to get there.:smt102

I think it goes something like this, Cat used to have 2 engines, C15 and C16 which were part of the same engine family (3406 series) but were classified as different engines as far as the EPA were concerned because they had different bore/stroke so to reduce cost of complinacing 2 separate engines they now use the same bore and stroke for the 3406 engines so even though there are other hard parts required to change the hp to the 625 engines because the bore/stroke are the same they are considered to be the same engine by the EPA, thats the emmissions sticker you're looking at on the oil cooler so it has to say 625 because that the highest horspower the EPA says that engine can go to.
    Make sense..?

    BTW thats only my opinion.
