I have a 05 int. with a cummins isx, when i went to fuel yesterday i took the tops off the tanks, got the fuel treatment from the storage compartment and unscrewed and removed the cap. Well, the round paper piece stayed on top of the jug and before i could grab it the wind took it and blew it right into the drivers side tank. I top off the tanks and ran the truck for about 30 minutes hoping it would float by but no such luck.
I'm not a mechanic so all i know is that the truck has a Davco fuel PRO-cessor under the hood. Are there screens in the tank and are they flat where this piece can be sucked up against them? Is ther a chance this peice will dissolve into smaller particles and be trapped by the fuel filter?
thanx,

Man that Sucks!!!

More than likely it will get sucked up against the line exiting the tank.

Not too sure if this will work but try one of grab sticks if they make them small enough or ask a local mechanic. Sorry to hear about the issue. It will be good to know how you get it out just in case any of us run into this problem.

I would keep looking for it every chance I got .
You might try a little fish net on a long handle of some kind like one used to catch goldfish -
The pickup line should have a screen on it. I'll likely stick on that.

You need to get it out. It will eventually migrate to the pickup tube and get sucked up against it and block it. It wont hurt anything, but you'll be lucky to get enough fuel to run the motor above idle. I chased this problem for over a year, changing fuel filters, blowing fuel lines out, replacing fuel lines before finding the little cardboard circle in the tank. It is very hard to see, I missed it several times looking in the tank before I seen it. Also, hard to get out cause it was flat against the bottom. I ended up welding a screw to a small rod and stuck it down and screwed against it and pulled it out. good luck
rookietrucker Thanks this. -
I guess thats one big reason why most big equipment has a strainer in the fuel filler neck, that way nothing besides liquid can get into the tank. wonder why they haven't done that with big trucks.....

Spent sunday fishin for the thing but no luck yet. I have two lines in the top of each saddle that run to kinda a double T. this also has a line in the front and back that runs to the davco filter under the hood. Is there any chance this will draw out of one tank if the other one clogges? i'm gonna try to run the fuel down and see if i can transfer the rest to the right side and then find it. thanx for all the post.
