Sooooo How are those maxxforce engines holding up today?

To me it is less likely that you are a "director of fleet fleet operations" whatever that means, and more likely that you were doing damage control for the old 13 letter #### spreader.

The maxxforce was a failure, plain and simple.

First, yeah it is a ###### version of c13. Second, power sucks and same with the jakes. Their twin turbo completly comes from acert designs. if you prostar/lonestar, take cummins. Power is good and same with jakes. My friend drives a 2015 prostar with 10 sp ultrashift, super singles, undertray, 2.64 rear tandem diffs, and gets 9 mpg driving 70.

I usually see an exaggeration whenever it comes to evaluate any engine wither it's positive or negative.

For ex , MBE4000... I was really concerned that I made a mistake when I purchased a unit with it, but turned out to be quite decent

I still find it amusing people defend these engines. They're so bad the local international dealer will not take them in for a trade. They're so bad that they're going for pennies on the dollar at the auction and the auction is flooded with them.

    Ozdriver Thanks this.

Maxxforce is really European MAN TGA/TGX engine and it got unusual for USA Common rail injection.

But really problem of DPF is not unique for MAN engines.

I used to work on MAN, Cummins, Volvo with DPF and we all had pain with all EU and US trucks with DPF.

Your statement is a disservice to how bad these engines were and how much warranty issues they had. Just look at how much money they lost at the period, it was unreal. It wasn't just DPF either. I know someone that used to run an International shop and he said the wait list for warranty work was massive, several weeks long. There's guys that went bankrupt because of these pieces of ####.

I cant say they are bad, they are different and no one wants to work on something that is really new and mechanics are lazy to learn more.

It is not a secret that MAN engines share mechacical parts with MBE. But Mercedes used very relible PLD injection. MAN developed CRD. And as result Mercedes had to switch to CRD to follow EPA2010 and Euro6.

I hate the Prostars...Junky crappy truck even if you get the Cummins motor. If you've got one with the MaxxForce motor...oh man. What a nightmare.
