"Now, for the Maxxforce 13. Essentially If I'm not mistaken its the old C13 block with tooling from Caterpillar and some components from MAN of Europe"

NOT TRUE- Caterpillar's joint venture only provides the C15 Block, married to Navistar fuels system and other Mann components.

    Saddle Tramp Thanks this.

That still doesn't change the fact that the motor is gutless and worthless, and dangerous with jake brakes that don't work right.

Gutless and worthless??? I am an engineer at Navistar and I dont think either of those words can be used to describe the Big Bore. And I like how you compare a 2010 engine to older engines. We have such strict NOx levels that we have to meet. Older engines didnt have this issue.

I can't believe there are still those out there that call the Cummins engine a "Cummings". Is this a regional thing or what? Does any of these people actually check the oil once in a while and see the name on the side of the engine?

If Navistar would use SCR in the US like they are in south america and MAN is using in europe they wouldn't have to use the obscenely massive EGR coolers and emissions design they ripped off the powerstroke.

Everybody knows the in-cylinder NOx reduction strategy was a bad move. You use EGR for transient control of NOx to improve urea economy. With SCR you still have power when you need it instead of choking the engine with exhaust.

Heavyd....No disrespect here, But if it ain't broke don't fix it. The 9200 Hundred series truck should have not been dropped, it was a proven good working dependable truck, plus it kept people working in Chatham Ontario. And yes I know the new paystar is the same cab.

I really feel bad for Navistar workers that worked hard for decades to turn out a good product only to be stabbed in the back by management that gives cheap labor a priority over quality .

I would like to know where you find all of your information? 99% of the time your information is dead on with what I have had to dozens of engineers to find out.

Once you start running that much exhaust through you engine it starts to become very acidic. I guess you all can figure out what that does to an engine over time. Why do you think Cummins went away from an in cylinder solution?
