Are Cat filters worth the $ or are other filters just as good. I've heard that Cat fuel filters have a better flow. I've been running all Cat filters but if I can save some $ that would be great.
Are Cat filters worth the $???

some require cat filters or voids warranty.. :dunno:

But I would always run the filters the manufacturer requires. Only being that there are more to oil filters than just how good they clean the oil, such as flow ratings for each type of filter, as well as burst pressure ratings, I can honestly say I saw a guy street racing, probably running a cheap oil filter and the thing burst when his engine hit about 6k rpm at the end of the track, sure you dont see this often at all but I would just stick with the same filter that comes from the manufacturer, as said above some wont warranty the engine unless you use them.

Short answer is yes keep running cat filters.

I knew a fellow who was sleeping at a customers yard one night,,,woke up to a pounding on the door,,,apparently his Cat fuel filter had split and was spewing fuel all over,,,,cops and the environMENTAL dudes showed up and ran a 3 ring circus,,,the filter had been installed at a shop,,, Cat covered the whole show!!!!

I don't know if all, but at least some of the fuel and oil filters from Cat are made by Wix. I noticed it when i changed the fuel filter on our Cat skid steer. The filter top had the exact same codes, marks, etc so i asked and yep, Wix made it for Cat!

I dont think CAT actually makes it own filters. But I would say Fleetgaurd,WIX,Donaldson,Luberfiner and others probably make a good product.I run Fleetgaurd on my CAT with no issues.I run the 1212 F/W seperator with about a 4 restriction.I bought a Davco 382 off ebay after reading different suggestions on here fom PaulE and others to get the restriction down even more on my Acert.

I have done "research" on automotive oil filters and stuff before and have read that Wix makes good oil filters... Thanks

I was told that Dewalt cordless drills are made by Black & Decker, to Dewalt specs, using metal gears. (Hold one in each hand to feel weight difference).
Lexus is made by Toyota, (to Lexus specs).
Some of the Kubota gasoline lawnmower engines are made by Kohler, to Kubota specs.
I'm sure there are other impostors out there, wearing the name badge of a company enjoying a fine reputation, that has been built by a company that doesn't have as good a rep.
I generally run Cat filters on my trucks, always have. The only exception is the primary- fuel/water separator. I use the Fleetguard #FS1000 because there is a water problem at our terminal's fuel tank which makes me replace that filter often. I can get some water out of the petcock of the Fleetguard, but haven't been successful draining the Cat #2568753; it just doesn't turn the water loose.
I read a filter comparison article years ago, where the Cat filters were found to provide better filtration, NOT better flow, (although flow is supposedly adequate), many people in my neck of the woods run aftermarket, saying the difference in flow affects their performance. -
