the volvo air ride front axle, combined with the lack-luster cab shocks create an odd body roll.....i.e when you enter a corner it feels like its gonna fall over
my old t6 has alot of body roll compared to the newer models, but not as much as the last volvo i drove
i perfer anything paccar....minus the pete clutch pedal (just dont like it)
i have driven many KW's, yes the cabs are skinny but they are well built

I actually LOVE the skinny cab like the KWs and the Pete 386. I'm 5'6.5" so having the front cab sknny, forcing the dash to "wrap" around the driver makes everything within a comfortable reach. I think I'd rather got with a KW T-660 than a 386 though. Not a big fan of the Unibuilt sleepers pete uses. I like the Aerocabs design better. I also lik the looks of the T-600 and T-660. Always was my favorite truck, even when i was a wee young pup (t-600).
I did hear from an O/O that his T-660 was a pile, but he believes more than anything, he just got a lemon, and it's not that the model itself was bad. He said he had TONS of electrical issues. Constant blown fuses, metling wires, bad grounds, and the no-idle heat/ac system it had never worked.
But i suppose im just stuck with who i work for. My credit is garbage, so my only chances are a lease-purchase. JCT is the only company i know of that leases the T-660.
Thank you TrashHead. Thats exactly what i was looking for. -
i havent heard much good about the t660 either.....way too much plastic, and i really dislike the newer design dash
i like the T600....mainly becuase its what i own and drive (sometimes....LOL)
instead of a fleece purchase, why not try to get finiancing with the help of the SBA.....trust me you dont need great credit, but a good business planThe Challenger and EmersonSC Thank this. -
my truck of choice is a 379 exhd pete with the 70" sleeper. but I doubt i'd buy one ever again unless it was an older one for semi retirement use. lol
your concerned with the big inside space though it seems. Personally I'm not a fan, too hard to heat and cool. I live in TX and these big open cab/sleeers get VERY hard to keep cool. But if that's your requiremnt then I'd go to a 387 pete or a t660 KW, the KW has the best interior in the truck market in my opinion. it's narrow in the cab but it' all open to the sleeper. Personally I much prefer a narrower cab.
I'm not a fan of the T2000 even though it is very imilar to the 387 pete. I just don't like the looks of it or the interior layout.
the freightliner are big but they are cheaply made and loud inside and you have even less resale value. But they can be had cheaply.EmersonSC, broncrider and The Challenger Thank this. -
google lone mountain truck leasing. It's where I got my truck from and there are a bunch of others around here who I have put in touch with them. Trust me, your credit's not worse then mine and I got approved. they will want you to have a comitment from a company to lease it to. they dont like to give trucks to guys who want to run their own authority. It's a lease but only in that they keep the title in their name untill you make the last payment. No balloon payments or anything. it's real straight forward and they're decent people
jlkklj777, EmersonSC, broncrider and 1 other person Thank this. -
Also, i have a foreclosure, two vehicle repos, and a couple outstanding credit card bills. I lost my job back in the begining of 2008, and lost everything. Took me over a year to find another job, which was with Prime.
Who would be a good company to lease onto? -
Also, I agree with you on the T-2000. The whole truck to me looks cheap.
And the plastic, well it seems every truck now is nothing but plastic I like the narrow cabs. I'm short so i feel most comfortable in them.
I guess a huge cab isn't a deal breaker, just more of a wish i suppose. I like having the space, but again, what do i know I do value your guys opinion since you've been on the road much longer than i have, so you gusy know more than i do. -
The 780 has the best livability and storage space of any truck I have ever been in and a great ride. I have an '07 with the '06 ISX engine. I would prefer the Cummins engine as it gives you a bigger service network. On the negative side, the air ride front axle has been a pain to keep aligned. I have also had wiring problems that the dealer hasn't been able to solve, and out of warranty I don't want to put a ton of hours and money into, the dashboard lights don't work, and if I move the tilt/telescope steering column, the electric windows won't work either. With the new ultra low sulfur fuel, and no tank cross over, I have fuel problems between the tanks at temps below around 10 degrees F, and usually end up shutting off the passenger tank, instead of having the fuel transfer and overflow on one side or the other.

Sounds like a POS, no offense. I'll sacrafice living space for reliability.
