On a serious note, get a D12 engine if you are looking into a truck from those years. First gen D13's are extremely bug-ridden.

I own but don't drive a 05 Volvo (with an ISX) it's actually been a good truck as far as cost of ownership. But I can't wait to get rid of it. I cuss that truck every time it needs serviced. It's a pain to work on no matter what your doing. If you don't work on your own truck and you like a spongy ride a Volvo might make a good truck for you.

I have driven a Kenworth t660 and put 450K on the truck. The ride was ok, but, I think my Volvo rides better. Air ride suspension is possibly the difference. Now, of course, this might be an issue when you need a heavier front axle. If you need a 13K front axle, I don't know if it comes in an air ride suspension format. I know Road King shock are suppose to make any truck ride better. I hope to have a Volvo 780 next. If I get one, it will have the road king shocks. If I can afford a new truck, the Bose seats and the shocks will be in the truck.

I drove a D11 I think and it was ok on the flats, but, couldn't pull a hill to save it's life. 40Klbs up the grape vine was at a blistering pace of 20mph.

really US trucktors are a bit heavier than Europeans, but... EU gross weight is 40 ore 44 000 KG, so 87-100 000 LBS.

I've been heavy for the last 6 months. I've eaten too many pistachios. Just kidding..

But, I have been pulling 75,000lb loads for the last 6 months and other than fuel mileage sucking in the hills, the truck seems to ride better when loaded. (feel) I wonder if I get a 13K front axle, can I still get air ride. I was told it doesn't come with it. If not, that's too bad.

I looked online and it seams air ride is available in the 2010 Volvo data sheet for the 14K front axle. I don't know about current trucks.
