Black_dog,
Hey , the APU thing is a lot of work. "04" Columbia and every thing must be custom made.
We are doing 2 at the same time.
We were not trying to be cheap by doing them ourselves. Rather wanted it done right.
Dealer installers do some really wild things on some trucks. They raise the battery box and then tell ya to be carefull making turns....
Not the way I want things.
Sorry about the news of where you live. I do not run east at all anymore. And never run Calif. That helps me a lot.
Mostly North west .
And you do have a huge point . My truck would not pass a smoke test.
Or should we say "Smoke screen"... Almost sounds like a drug screen.
The freight pays better here in the Midwest so I best stay put.
Youngstown OH. is it. Not 1 mile east of there. That is my limit.
Thanks for the kinder words and response. Have good one.

Hey Guys :
Got the APU running. 1st trip out with it. Headed for Montana again.
It works !!
26,000 BTUs heat and AIR. She will cook ya out.
It is a Black Rock Evolution...
It was a lot of custom work to get it to fit . but So far it is really nice.
The Fan for heat and air is auto and will run fast or slow depending on what temp it calls for.
Set the temp and go to sleep. This took longer because we installed seperate fuel tanks just for the APU. I want it to be totally independant of the truck.. It is...
I also found out that my ECM is from a 3406E 1MM.
I may be swaping out the rears to 3.21 to get the RPMs down . I pull light loads and the lower the Rs the better the MPG.
CAT makes a huge 1000 horse engine that sports some very cool air filters. they appear to be made by K&N.. They are washable and with some work designing , I know I can get them in there and make em work.
They are cone shaped and would allow a lot more air flow.
The mods done on my truck do really like a very clean air filter. -
So. Did that jake brake get fixed ?

Just had the exact same problem.
Pull th evalve covers one more time. You have one {1} loose wire . It is at the spade. Find it , squeese it tighter and push it back on.
Mine was on the back one. hardest to reach.
CATs are famous for this. If one at the front or back is not connected right it will cut out at about 1300 RPMS or higher. Under that it may work.
If you find one spade that even wiggles a little it is the one.
Let me know if it works.
I have some other tricks I can tell you about to get high MPG and all the power you can handle from that C-15 and not hurt that engine.
Mine is awsome. Just under 700 HP and I have done 8.875 MPG. And it is now the most powerfull rig I have ever dreamed of driving. No more down shifting on the hills.Click to expand...
This guy was bang on. My high stage of my jakes went out going through the mountains last night. Was the longest 13 hr drive home. Got to my shop pulled off the covers and went to get the actuator kit. $592!!
Long story short I remember what I read here and started checking the wires. Sure enough the rubber band that goes over the harness was gone and there was slack in the connection. Took a rubber band off of the instructions on the actuator kit and wrapped it around the harness . .003 cents later I'm rolling again. -
