I have an obsession with gauges, I need to have as many as possible. Every gauge on the dash fills in a part of the story your truck is telling, and I believe a full gauge package is a necessary thing, not a "full load option"

The truck I am currently looking at buying is a 05 W900L, but it is basic for gauges. It only has 11 gauges including the speedo and tach. I have room for 8 more and would like to install them.

My question is, is there already sensors in the exhaust and diffs for temperature, and does kenworth run the wiring to the dash when its built, but all you have to do is put the gauge in? OR, do I need to install sensors in the diffs and exhaust for temps, and run all wiring for gauge power and lights from scratch?

    Rolling18 Thanks this.

I've added a pyrometer and air filter restriction gauge to mine. For the pyro, I had to order the gauge, the pyro itself and the wiring to it. The plug in the exhaust was already there after the turbo, just had to heat it up a little to get it out. I would bet that whatever gauges you want to add, you'll have to run the wiring and a sensor for as well.

I'm not sure about an '05, mines a '98, but it had blank gauge receptacles left behind the dash ready for other gauges to plug right into. Just have to measure very carefully and drill your hole in the right spot so it will fit correctly. Once you pop the gauge in, it will have power for its light.

The Pryo you have to buy it all but the wiring is there for most every thing else, you will have to buy the sensors and the gauges, the oil temp both diffs and the tranny use the same sensor

i'm with you brother---i love gauges too. Lots of them. i especially love the digital type.

i'm pretty sure you can tap into the other gauges' lines for power and lighting. But do it the right way; i suggest these:

    2) the existing gauges should already be fused and you want to make sure the fuse can handle any additional gauges. But you probably already knew that.

Most likely you won't any sensors or wiring for any of the non ecu monitored stuff like pyro, axle temps, air restriction and fuel pressure/restriction. You would have to install and wire them yourself.

I agree with you!! I would LOVE t have a Knight Rider or aircraft style dash in all my vehicles!!!
im researching ECU monitoring gauges like the similar type you se for OBD2 monitors in cars.

I want to max out the gauges in my future 07 W900!!. thanks for this post!!
