cascadia regen..... nightmare!

    i know it... no doubt it means something.... well, with any luck the truck will be running right by monday or tues... ill update as it happens...
    thanks for all the replies from everyone... i will be sure to mention some of the above to the shop...
    our shop wont work on it so it will be going to the dealership first thing in the morning...

    Great guess, KH! He's a company driver for Prime... but his truck was formerly an l/o truck.

    The regen ran twice yesterday within a bit more than 550 miles. Automatic regen... not manual. But it still seems excessive and when it happens, his fuel mileage drops considerably. Normally, that wouldn't be a problem, but Prime requires 6.75 mpg average... and with his already crappy mileage, he's worried about having his truck turned down. That's not a big problem, speedwise, since he doesn't often go beyond 58 mph... but he mentioned something about it affecting his rpm's when he shifts? Also, he suspects it will also negatively affect the power which is already a problem.

    Also, he said he had a few brief periods yesterday where it blew a lot of black smoke. He requested to bring the truck back to the Detroit shop earlier, and reminded his dispatcher again yesterday. Guess it's time for his monthly downtime! :biggrin_25510:

    im at the dealership now... sometime today ill know whats wrong with her..
    my truck has never blowen any black smoke of any kind....
    a huge lack of power yes... very poor fuel mileage for sure! but no black smoke...
    you said that it messes with his rpms when shifting... now that you say that, i think mine may have been doing the same thing.,... well... ill back later
    gonna take advatage of a clean free shower!!!

    I remember they had to replace a "dozer valve" on mine, whatever that is....

    ok, so im back... put the truck in the dealership on monday, and got it back at 8pm tuesday night...
    heres the verdict.
    this is straight from the write up sheet... most of which is a different language to me...
    but here we goo..
    slctrucker i quoted yours as youll see why...

    *** intake throttle valve failed, 51/2.. hooked up laptop & checked faults, active code for HIGH SOOT LEVEL zone 5 for DPF. Ran unit and had problems with fuel comp. pressure & doser block. this is why it wont regen. ( 2744) tried to regen unit. intake throttle valve would not hold at 84%. code 51/2, intake throttle positon deviation error. replaced intake throttle with new ( new part was bad, will replace on line D). Rgened unit. regen completed in 40 mins, OK,(2782)

    new intake throttle valve failed, replaced intake throttle vavle. New intake throttle installed on line A made check engine light come on, code 51/2, intake throttle position deviation error. installed another new valve & code went away(2782 ***

    well their it is....
    got a load out late tonight... but its only 200 round trip and weighs only 7k... ill find out on friday when i pull my regular 40k+ load if the power problem is fixed....


    hopefuly if and of you cascadia drivers have the same signs with your truck, maybe you can start off with something like this for your shop..

    no prob nomad, i had a simular problem about a month, month and a half ago with lack of power, they replaced the intake throttle... and as you read above, they had to replace it again.....

    as i said at the end, i posted all of this, cause their have been 184 people that viewed this thread, so its def something that people have been following up on. and no doubt that, like yourseld, will find as usefull information.

    so, im parked at the loves in Richmond Ky at the moment,
    " check engine " and " regen " light flashing again... lost all my power...
    gotta wait for the shop to pick up the phone so they can tell me to take the truck to the dealership. yet again...

    nightmare no doubt!!!!
    im at one of our terminals now doing a regen.... but this time my rpms are going back and forth from 1500 up to 1850... and the exhaust pipe is making a poping sound... sounds just like when you turn on a blow torch... odd in my opionion.... shop said they may have it towed up to lexington to get it fixed...
    wonder what their is to do over the weekend in lexington...
