Sorry to hear it, man. I lost a turbo leaving that Love's back in August and spent a weekend in Lexington waiting to get a new one. Lexington is actually a pretty nice little college town, so I guess it could be worse.

Your filter is full already. By the time that the lights come on and the stop engine light comes on it is too late to do anything about other than take it to a shop. No point in messing around with it. Two things on the aftertreatment system will cause this. To high of a temp or to big of a difference in pressure between the front of the filter and the back of the filter. The dozer or doser vavle is the valve on the exhuast pipe right after you turbo. It should have at least 3 lines going to it. Coolant in, coolant out, fuel in, and one connecter. All this valve does is put raw fuel directly into your exhaust stream. Sorry to hear about your luck with this issue. Hope everything gets worked out this time.

    Man that sux.

When mine went bad I tried freightliner davenport. Told me all I needed was a regen.
Then freightliner cheyenne, replaced a sensor, fixed it for a while.

Then went to smiths Detroit here in slc, replaced the dozer valve and 50,000 miles later she's still good.

At least someone knew how to fix it.

well.... im in georgetown for the weekend.. in my truck... they wanted to work on the truck lasst night, friday, and i was gonna get a hotel room for the weekend... well, something is going on in lexinton and all the hotels are booked, and they cant work on the truck with me in the sleeper... so now i have to wait till monday....
they hooked the laptop up to it lastnight and tried to do a regen... its not doing an actual regen..
the " throttle valve " is bad AGAIN... the guy that he knows the problem is the throttle valve. which if you read the post with the write up info, youll see that F.L in Chatt. replaced 2 times... but these guys up here figured out that something is causin the valve to stay open.. all they have to do is find out what the problem is...and what is causin the valve to stay open.. the guy said that its prob. a real simple fix... but he also said its prob a nihtmare trying to find what the actual problem is..

he told me straight and simple.
.." Your Truck Is Broke "..:biggrin_25523:

so... once again... ill update as things happen...

I drove a 2008 Cascadia for about 6 months. Mine had the 60 Series Detroit. Never had a problem with the Regen working correctly. I know for a fact that if you monkey with the HP/Torque it can affect the regen system. The comapny I was working for at the time dropped their top speed from 68 to 65. They had to leave the Freight shakers at 68 for a little longer due to getting the right programming for the Detroit. Also, sometimes I would see over 7.0 MPG pulling heavy loads, and then have days where I could barely get 5.5 MPG pulling nearly empty trailers. the wonders of modern technology...

Also, when doing a parked regen, let the truck slow the idle down on its own when the regen is done. Wait for the throttle to come back down completely and be sure the High exhaust temp light (HEST) is out. Don't monkey with cruise, throttle, regen switch, drive or shut the truck off till this happens. If you try do drive or mess with it without letting the computer do this on its own, it may trigger warning lights again after a short distance, thinking the cycle never completed. This is the problem I was having with the Cummins ISX.

I've driven Caterpillar, Cummis, and the New International Maxxforce 13 with regen. All of the new engines have their little quirks. Most of them make a backfiring noise when shifting gears. None of the new engines are fond of stop and go traffic. It can clog your DPF in a hurry. Also, surging and rough idle (such as going across a parking lot and your RPM's won't stay steady with your foot). And the smell while doing a regen is putrid, coming from the hood not the exhaust. I will say the Maxxforce was the worst, I couldn't even put my windows down when the thing was doing regen on the highway.

Both the Detroit ans the Maxxforce I noticed soot around hoses and metal fittings where the high temps where causing leaking. Who cares if the driver inhales it, as long as the exhaust pipe is clean, right? I always found it a bit redundant to have something designed for pollution control and then have to do a regen at 1400 to 1700 RPMs for up to an hour and a half every few weeks. All in the name of clean air.

Also, not to be insulting, but is it posible that you or one of the previous drivers put Low Sulfur Diesel (LSD) instead of Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) If you fill one of these new trucks with the old fuel you will cause mega mega dollars worth of damage.

I had a situation a couple years ago where I was in Georgia low on fuel, and there was a shortage after a hurricane and nobody close to me had ULSD. My company told me stick in 50 gallons of the Low Sulfur fuel and get it back up north and then fill with ULSD ASAP. It worked, but I think the truck was doing constant regen going down the road. Truck ran better gradually after a few ULSD fillups. I'm sure Detroit would void the warranty if they got wind of it...

d/w. im in a company truck, and they have the hp and speed cut back... we run a 66 and i couldnt even tell you how much hp they left us with..

as for for the fuel.. thats the first question everyone asks me... and they all say make sure your putting in ULSD... that all i use... as for the previous drivers.. no telling what they did... but im sure the company could pull all the fuel records and find out if they wanted too...

replace filter at 300,000? really? I have a series 60 cascadia and that hasnt been done, but it does have a "turbo speed low" code on all the time and a "radar network" code on all the time...

i got the dd15 in mine... one thing ill say is that i sure miss the cummins...
but when i was at f.l on friday, they said that the throttle valve keeps closing when its doing the regen... it has been replaced 3 times now in the past month... what they are going to do on monday is try and figure what keep causing the valve to close all the time... he said its prob a simple fix... but finding the actual problem is going to be a big job...
