ok, i know this is weird and i never heard of this...i might go work for this guy on the weekends who runs a 2 truck operation and pulls a flatbed
he said the semi tractor becomes the forklift to unload the trailer....this was on the phone, i ask him if he meant theres a forklift attached to the back of the trailer....he said no, the semi TRACTOR actually acts as the forklift....has anybody ever seen or heard of this? i cant figure out what it will look like

You bring up an interesting subject and I would like to hear more about this as well. I hope an flat bedding expert like Notarps or WCP would know more about this.

I saw one last summer unloading building equipment from a flatbed.
About blew my mind. I just kept hearing the tractor going back and forth and back and forth, wondering WTF was going on? Then I saw the forks on the back and was like HOLY CRAP!! That's Awesome! -
If anybody finds a photo please post it,I would really like to see that to.

Their not worth a crap. Morton Buildings uses them and so does Menards. They delivered stuff to my house with one, unhook the trailer in the road, try to get the tractor with forks off the back backed up to the trailer. Can only reach one side of the trailer so he had to unload one side. Hook back up and move it to the other side of the road and repeat. Slam your hand in the door and buy a piggyback forklift. I could have unloaded it by hand faster.
Look at it this way, a piggyback lift is around $30k (i almost bought one) if these truck mounted ones were even close to being as efficient no one would buy the piggybacks.
Freebird135 Thanks this. -
thanks for the info, the guy does he deliver for menards only -
Do you mean like one of these? They're common in the Northwest for loading hay bales.
