does anyone know something about the blue ox engine brake? will it work with my jake brake? is it hard on the motor with the back pressure it makes?

Jakes and Exhaust brakes don't work well together unless designed that way. If the cam is cut to use intake air to stuff the cylinder you need the turbo boost to do it. If you put an exhaust brake on at the same time then you loose all the turbo boost and you'll lose effectiveness from your jake.

If the cam is cut to use the exhaust gas to stuff the cylinders...well the engine would have come with an exhaust brake and jake anyway.

If you have a good jake brake (like on a stock cat or cummins), adding the exhaust brake will not make it stronger. If you have a weak jake you'll get the strength of the exhaust brake. Its better to run one or the other. But you would probably be able to go several hundred thousand miles without having to worry about engine components.

If you added the exhaust brake and only used at low rpm and used the jake at high rpms you would get the best of both worlds. But again not running them at the same time.

The backpressure from the exhaust brake will not harm internal engine components. EGR valves, coolers and whatnot are very engine specific and may not be able to stand up to the abuse over time.
