Pablo...what im talking about the actual heads...they gave me new style remaned ones that has a metal 'rib', if you will, on it..probably a 1/16 inch instead of a perfectly flat remaned head
-
yeah, there are reman. heads available here too. But IMO heads with rib are of the same durability ad resurfaced with new style gasket. Using of high temperature germetic around water passages heps too.
-
i believe that i used both

Did you do computer diagnostics of your engine, like Perfomance test, Boost circuit/turbo test, cyl. ballance test, injection time test, EGR test, compression test?
Have you got any fault codes related with missfiring, low boost pressure (2 1818 ISO Code)...?
What tools are available to you? DDDL and DDMC? Mercedes Star Diagnose (use pin 13 on 16pin engine connector, it is K-line)? -
My mbe4000 just started losing coolant on the right side of the block where the #1 cylinder head bolts to the block. Sometimes it will leak and sometimes it wont, everytime I pressure test it it holds pressure. It's not a bad leak, it doesn't use more than a half a gallon of antifreeze per week. How big a job is it to put a headhasket in???? Do I need to take the exhaust and intake manifolds off or can I leave them on??? I can get a new headgasket, valvcover gasket, one intake and one exhaust gasket & 4 new headbolts from my local dealer for $170. Do I need any other gaskets or O-rings other than the ones I mentioned??? I've done quite a bit of mechanic work on other motors but this will be my first time working on the mbe4000 motor so I would appreciate any help/advice I can get, thanks.

Every tiume the dealer had to replace the gasket on my engine, they felt the need to do an inframe. One at 200K, the other at 400K. So, not sure if just changing the gasket is enough.

My oil analysys shows no signs of coolant in the oil & as long as the piston & sleeve look fine I see no reason why I should need to do anything more than a head gasket job. -
