a mechanic bud of mine swears that keeping the turbo induction band clamps torqued to specs as opposed to barely snugged up,makes lots of difference during hard pulls. The air is forced into turbo better and reduces over heating and provides better pulling.
get a pittsburgh performance or bully dog chip. -
Finally bit the bullet and had the radiator replaced. That was the problem. Factory plastic tanks could not be rodd3ed out because the factory cross vented the cores and a rod could not be pushed through. Nice job Freightliner. Perfect scenario for selling new parts. I bought a full metal aftermarket to replace it and for a cheaper price. I don't regret it.

If the cooling system is contaminated to the point that the radiator is plugged then that is your fault. I am willing to bet you do not have Dex-cool in the system, green crap, I would bet maybe even use DCA4 as an additive. Doing it right costs a bit of money, not doing it right costs you a lot more.
Well if the system was contaminated enough to plug the radiator then you have the bunk and cab heaters yet to do, you can blame Freightliner for that to. -

Well then you should have brought it to me, and I would have done an inspection for you.
I would install a coolant filter, get the cooling system flushed, and the heater cores blown out, backwards, you have some work to do to get it right, compensating for poor practices before you got it. Washing soda is cheap all it takes is time, and it is better with access to air to blow out the heaters that is where the aluminum bloom crud will be now, you want to get it out and clean the system. Then fill it with either Dex-cool my favorite, easy to monitor, or Noat.Bob's Buzz Thanks this. -
With all the work I have had to do to this thing and the money I have spent -vs- what I have made this past year, I am just holding on. Emergency and have-to repairs is all I am affording right now.
The heat and AC are working fine and I did change out the coolant filter. -
yes my new 560hp dosen't out pull my 515hp series 60 ethier

Biggest improvment I made the entire year was having the injectors opened up to max. output. Gain on average 1/2 mpg and increased torque.
