Intake Valve Actuator Not Responding fault codes (285-07, 286-07, 287-07, 288-07, 289-07, 290-07) are occurring on some engines equipped with a new ('07) one piece design Low Pressure Actuator (LPA) versus the older two piece design Low Pressure Actuator (LPA). These fault codes results in the "Check Engine" lamp being illuminated and can potentially result in an engine derate.
C15 engines built or repaired since September, 2005 (are equipped with the one piece LPA and need to be flash with new software.
Before troubleshooting the engine, look at the release date of the flash file for the engine. The flash file for the engine must be more recent than January 5, 2006. If the flash file for the engine is older than January 6, 2006, flash the engine with the most current flash file
If no active diagnostic codes are present, there is no need for further troubleshooting.
The new software increases the VVA solenoid pull-in current from 6 amps to 8 amps.

Some of you may want to read over my thread titled "Fault code problem".
Went through the FC #95 pain, but think it started when engine's main wire harness shorted out /cutting wires due to a broken tie wrap. The odds of something like that happening to someone else are slim, but I would sure feel bad if it did happen and I had not mentioned anything.

385-3 is intake actuation pressure sensor - low voltage. That sensor is on the right side front of the engine right above the T-stat housing. The sensors are prone to failure, but you may also have a wiring issue. Unplug it and see if there is any signs of corrosion or damaged pins. Give each wire at the plug a good tug to make sure it's connected good. Follow it back to the ECM looking for any damage to the harness. I'd also pop the plastic cover off the harness plus (the front one) and see if it chaffed any wires. If all that looks good, it's most likely the sensor itself has failed. The only way to know for sure would be to ohm out each wire to the ECM plug to verify that they are good. With as many sensor failures as I have seen, I'd buy one and try it. Even if it's a wiring problem, it wont hurt to have one in your truck. It's an easy change and they do fail, you'll use it eventually.

Recheck your codes, I have not seen the actuation pressure sensor turn on a red light yet, you may have a new code with the red lamp.

Fixed it it was the sensor. After I put the new one in the orange light went off. The red engine light is still on n still dinging but didn't throw no codes.

A fault serious enough to turn on the shutdown lamp will throw a code for sure. What kind of truck is it and is the engine shutting down? It might be a problem with the lamp. We've had Petes, which turn on warning lamps through the Namux system, do goofy things with the lamps when there was a problem with the Namux system.
