A buddy of mine sold his 12.7L powered Classic that was getting high 7's never giving him any trouble and went to a truck like what you're looking at with the exception it had 3:58 rears.. and he did good to get 5.5 he also had lots of headaches with the engine... Classics will get good mileage with the right engine, setup, and driver.. Maybe that one youre looking at is good who knows.. I'd just rather have the 12.7 if I was getting a detroit..

be sure to maintain, oil ,fuel and air filters have and overhead done every 100,000 I have a 99 fl classic with 1,300,000 that over the years has averaged 5.8 pulling boxes mostly grossed out Also detroits get better mileage when you progressive shift

this is true, but DO NOT lug the engine. higher rev's are better than lugging.

I would say something between 5.5 and 6.0 I'd really like to know how folks are getting 7-8. Seems high, but I'm just a rookie here.

Is 50,000 your gross weigh? or thats just the container? if your total is 50,000 then you can make some real good mileage.
