Hi I am gonna start a Project sometimes in the next 10 years, I know its a long way ahead but Might as well get the BEST information ATM. Okay so Bassicly what I want is a truck that will get floated to a event or maybe driven there. I want to drag race against COGA or COUTURE guys..

I have found online that the K600 old motors can be tuned pretty much UP alot. I wont have a budget of 50 000 you know. I plan on putting that motor in a older model truck like 70-85 KW or WSTAR.or If I can find a Pete or whatever is cheaper.

Any one know where I can get those old KTA600 motors? Are they even good or not? Parts pricey? easy to MOD? I want a good 1000+HP. Reliabelity is a fun factor but meh its just for a weekend.
I just want to make a open truck category and go race for fun.

As for the turbos a HUGE one or a twin setup?

Anyways give me some suggestions guys but Im really looking into a mechanical motor since There cheaper to MOD.

    PS:Where can I find a KTA600 anyways?:biggrin_2559:

    Thanks

RPM isn't a problem with a K........3400RPM is easy......you really need to look for a QSK19..........this is the modern version of the KTA. The block is stronger.......the heads are better........the problem is money. These motors bring BIG $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!! Whether it's a K or a Q

Hp............1000 is very easy..........1600 takes a little work.........more than this can still be had with the PT fuel system if you know who to talk with and have the $$$$$$ to build it.

Their not that old. They are an industrial engine. The only thing I have seen them on are wood grinders and chippers. ( Im sure their used on other things to ). They are 19 liters. The Silver bullet Mack pulling truck runs one and Dana Lindseys Red Hot and Rollin puller has one to. ( I think? ) Tom Lindsey with the Built for Bussiness pulling truck runs a Kt 600 that is rumored to be the most powerful truck on the Big Rig pulling series at around 4000HP. Tom is Known as the DIESEL DOCTOR and knows how to make a Cummins run. I will try to find contact info for Tom and post it.

Both the K19/KT600 and QSK can make good power with the proper tweaks. Running over 3,000rpm can get a bit hairy (most super street pulling classes won't let you run over 3,000rpm - Hot-rod/modified classes can go higher). Make sure you have the crank balanced and use a blow-proof/centrifugal clutch if you're shooting for over 1,000hp. A modified PT system can get you over the 1,000HP mark, but there are other options. Tom is the man when it comes to these Cummins motors - nobody builds 'em like he can.

Where was this information when I had a brand new KT600 in 1979 that never ran worth a sh#t and no one could say why...... 350's could out pull it!
