md engines are cheaper for a reason
some have luck with them some dont--make sure all the recall updates have been done--they like to catch fire if not done
i was definately advised against them--but i am sure somebody could tell you their good points

The company I worked for previously had many many of them and they were closely related to a big warm pile of dog doo-doo

Engine is light, and the displacement is bigger than other engines of different makes with similar weights.

Like was said, make sure recall updates were done. They tend to break down, but so does anything mechanical. I had one go bad and drove it home on a local run. Check engine light didn't come on. Fluids were ok, but something went in the head.

Most work must be done by a dealership as parts are captive compared to most of the other engines.
