Hey guys got a 2002 6NZ cat with 475HP and almost 800k miles, just wondering what my boost should max at? I'm only getting about 19psi max. Maybe more in a lower gear and revving little hard. Engine doesn't feel weak I can pull people on hills with 80k lb's, just curious if it should have more boost and power.
Serial is 6NZ62807
And whats the personality code 134 mean? Thanks!

Should be around 26 to 30psi. Check your charge air cooler system for leaks if all checks out there it maybe the wastegate spring is weak opening too early. How old is the turbo is it original? is there any exh leaks on the manifold gaskets or turbo mounting gasket?
-
I don't hear any leaks at least, think it's the original turbo looks old. If it's the wastegate, is there any way I can fix it?
-
If you could hear the leak over the engine, it would be almost undrivable.
-
You need to get the charged air system pressurized with shop air up to 35psi and check for leaks even if its small you need to fix it you would be suprised how much those small leaks will drop your boost

personality module code is a number cat gives to there flash files to designate them to a certain power setting. For example if you got your truck rerated to a 550 the personality module code would be diffrent than the one you have now for the 475.
-
Boost is supposed to be 27 psi, but it can be slightly higher or lower depending on air density and humidity.
19 psi you have a problem
The Personality Module Code is used by CAT to keep a mechanic from flashing the incorrect flash file into the ECM without CAT Factory Passwords, it's also known as the Interlock Code or IC. Any certified CAT Service Center can update your flash file in the ECM with a newer file without Factory Passwords as long as they use the same Personality Module Code or IC. If you wanted to change the horsepower rating or RPM then it will have a different IC and the mechanic would have to get Passwords from CAT for the engine to run properly after it was flashed with this different IC -
Thanks guys, I was actually wrong on the boost, it's more like 22.5 psi max exactly half way on my gauge. Was somehow thinking thats 20 in the middle. (Between 15 and 30)
So tomorrow I'm getting my engine brakes rebuilt at CAT, how much does it run for them to check this stuff? Thx -
Just went to the CAT dealer to try to get my engine brakes fixed (Turns out they are PAC brakes, OUCH).
Had them do a test, said no leaks for the turbo. Got one more question though. I did a fuel wire mod using a 150ohm resistor a few days ago. They said it threw a fuel temp code 23hrs ago. Code is 174-3 Fuel temp voltage high (13) with 1 occasion.
Is this normal after putting a resistor in the wire? -
I just had some springs on my pacbrake that broke. They wanted $1045 for new Pacbrakes, apparently you cant just get new springs from pacbrake, but my local Cathouse did some homework and ended up putting some Cat springs in as replacements saving me a $1015 in parts.
