I spent $150 on KW OEM Locking fuel caps. They worked nice until the 1st ice. Today, the pass side was frozen in place. I got it open using a hot cigarette lighter pressed to the face of the cylinder.
I would explore anti-theft devices but I have 2 different tanks on the rig and one is from a 84 KW. The neck appears to be 3" but 3" anti-siphon is too big and the anti-siphon that fits the other side (2.6") is too small.
They have NO weather cover on these fuel caps, so the moment anything dribbles into the lock cylinder - your out of luck.
Anyone have ANY cap ideas? - this truck is parked a good deal (as many of you know) and I dont want to worry about theft. Its in a fairly good/secure area but still.....
Locking fuel caps - NOT OEM KW!!

These locking caps that Ken posted are available at Iowa80.
They have a $30 off $150 promo I think goes through today 12/26 and that was the trigger price for me.
NO one has had them any cheaper. Buying direct was $240 a pair.
EMAIL30 is the code for $30 off $150 or more at Iowa80....Total cost for a pair was $206 delivered.Ken Thanks this. -
In an emergency, i have used an old mud flap and cut a circle out of it to fit the hole. This after i had the cover for the lock cylinder break off in cold weather. in fact it worked so well i've left it that way.

Is this on the talon fuel caps? -
A squirt of WD-40 every few days should help prevent the freezing issue.
-
Maybe it's the WI cold freeze, I dunno.
But no matter what, once ANY drip of moisture gets in the KW caps, they are frozen solid.
Poor design to leave a key way totally unprotected.
I mean how much could it possibly cost them to have a weather cover over the lock?
Dam OEM locking caps sell for close to $170/pr... I think I paid $125/pr for them back in June.
...I had the lockers on the rig when I bought it but the prior owner also got annoyed
and removed the locking tab under the cap, basically rendering them useless. -
Heh... all the WD-40 in the world won't over come a truely pizz poor design I guess.
