Forget the stainless... while it may look good on a hot rod it's not tough enough for truck use. You'll need grade 5 to grade 8/9 hardware...

The bast paint, hands down, is POR 15... easy to use, looks great and tough as nails.

I don't think there a whole lot of colour choices when it comes to POR-15, especially if you want something to really stand out.

where did you get your valve covers chromed ? I'm rebuilding a big cam and id like to get the valve cover and the aftercooler chromed. There is a bike shop near my house i asked them for a quote and was surprised by the 780 estimate they gave me i thought:biggrin_25510: it was ridiculous. I really recommend high temperature por15 i used black velvet on my n14 and left it that way but my neighbor uses the aluminum type and then adds the color he wants teh engine and finally seals it with a couple coats of clear. He had a tow truck that he barely uses but in my opinion i think that this wont work good on a rig because the clear might start cracking and make the engine ugly. I tried powder coating but oil off the breather tube stained the coating and looked messy, maybe it was the shops fault that used improper technique or low quality product that resulted in the coating not resisting chemicals, id stick to por15 and some stainless wire looms over the hoses, and finish it off with some nice bolt covers all over the engine and if you want to go the extra step get a stainless sheet over the firewall fro that wow effect
