I wouldn't mind knowing myself. I drove a truck with a dt530 for a few years and the hpop went bad i think 3 times. Shop just kept putting IH ones back on it. I also drove a dt466 that just shut off going down the highway. If I remember right the shop said a gear came of inside the pump. I'm not too familiar with the hpop system so I don't know what that would mean. If it was like a gear on a regular oil pump or not. Never have been a big fan of IH after they got away from hpip systems.

High pressure injection is actually pretty reliable and for the most part easy to diagnose. I haven't seen any aftermarket pumps, so I don't know about that.

My brother has a ford dually with 7.3 liter, he had the same trouble it would turn over but not start, turned out to be some connections under the valve cover needed replacing, after fixing that it has ran fine since.

A lot of times that turns out to be the glowplug relay.
Its the valve cover harness that he replaced. They tend to wear out at the plastic connections for the injector. -
