I'm looking for just the outlet part that goes in the over-head in '07 Volvos. There's a panel that has a place for switches, a microphone bracket, and the power outlet. I need just the outlet (with the factory connector on the back) for my truck. I've looked at a couple of different websites (Volvo Trucks NA, one of them) and have yet to find it.

Anybody know of anywhere else to look?

what outlet you look for? There is a place for additional relays in fuse panel area, there are some unused kl.15, kl.15R (key radio position, disconnected when starter is on) and kl30 (Battery power) wires (usually red).

And there are bodybuilder fuse panels on some trucks in pass. feet well area.

What outlet of what current to use depends on what do you wanna connect. If it is CB radio - use and 10A rated outlet, if you wanna install 1000 WT subwoofer - run 10 mm2 wire tp battery box with 150 A rated fuse :smt034

You know, the thing one might plug a cell phone charger into, or the power chord for a GPS or bird dog?

Hah, 12V cigaret lighter plug) it is connected throught 20A fuse to 15R circuit.

On some volvos there were no overhead power outlet, but there is wiring for CB radio you can use for cel.phone charhger, just add an outlet.

See, mine has the overhead ...well, had the overhead panel. It does have the female connection for the factory outlet, so I was hoping someone knew where to find one online. All of the places I've searched don't have it listed. Maybe I need to make a trip to a Volvo dealer sometime.

If there is no outlet there you can easily run wire from fuse panel area to overhead. I have pictures of factory installed GPS, Cell Phones, CB radio and I can post wiring harness diagrams later and you can put wires the same way

    Hiya!
Is there room in your rack for this?

If not, or if you need a metal bracket to mount with, I found this one on eBay by just searching for "lighter outlet" and got several pages of hits.

Stock, "real" CBs are typically fused at 2 amps. I've run a 45-watt FM transceiver off of a heavy duty lighter outlet; it drew 13 amps on transmit. It wasn't a great way to get that much current, but it was a work vehicle. At only a couple of amps, you'd be fine.

it is just an example how do they run wires.

I'd connect wires to cig. lighter in dash. It is protected with 20A fuse.

    Pablo,
Thanks very much for posting that pic. I haven't had any Volvo trucks in my radio shop yet, so my sole experience working with their problems has been on this forum.
Unrelated (but only partially), the Rami multiplexer really won't take more than legal CB power without breaking down inside. Folks are almost universally better off to put on a perch mount and run their own CB coax to it.
By the way, is that roof all fiberglass? <shudder!>
    Thanks again,

Volvo generally make roofs of steel, sleeper of fiberglass.

Really, VLN cabine is based on EU FM cabine, narrower then FH (FH cabine is of sleeper width). So all basic elements of cabine are made of steel, including doors and roof.

    Sleeper roof is plastic.
