Back the nut off and it will tighten the jaws on the fifth wheel.

if'n you don't know how to do that,
I'd pay somebody !!!!!!!!!!
You CAN get in trouble messing with that adjustment, just a FYI. -
yes it can, and it's an infinite adjustment also (at-least until the bolt is backed off to the point where there's no more thread). to adjust it, just unhook from the trailer and back the bolt off, then hook back up to the trailer, and tighten the bolt back down to the fifth wheel plate. keep in mind that when you tighten the bolt back down, you should still be able to spin the rubber washer (the one between the bolt and fifth wheel plate) pretty easily with your fingers. if you can't spin it then the bolt is too tight and needs to be backed off a bit.
if you still get the bumps and bangs when ever you take off or stop, then your fifth wheel may need to be rebuilt, or the king pin on the trailer needs to be replaced. -
Very Good,
and the instructions ARE available online. -
yep, and the rebuild is easy as pie, the hardest part for me was unmounting the fifth wheel so i could flip it over to do the actual rebuild. there's not many parts to it.. the bebuild took alot of the bang out, now i'm considering replacing the king pin on the trailer or just waiting to get a whole new trailer.. it depends on how much it's gonna cost to replace a king pin, haven't gotten any quotes yet.
good luck.123456 Thanks this. -
good info,
thanks -
Just make sure you get it correct. I've known quite a few people that have adjusted there own 5th wheel only to loose the trailer the next run not to far down the rd.
