Why can't American trucks have synchronized transmissions?

but i think on old mercedes with om442A mechanical engine

even if we compare it with other engines from this time like man d28 scania dsc11 or 14 it is pretty lazy to get rpms

we had 2426 sk from 1991 with om442 15.1L eng , and this truck has very slow reaction for throttle, when you are on idle and hit full gas you need to wait about 3-4 seconds to get 2500rpm

    thans

some of them are even too soft i dont like too soft clutch we had one 2629 from 1992 you can literally press clutch with 2 fingers ( it has single plate clutch) also man fe2000 has really soft clutch and also nice short pedal walk only 10cm or even less ( about 4 inch or less)

I'll just have to get a new clutch knee, I guess.

Tell me about it. You have to do bearings after a couple of million miles (3.2 million km).

it is impossible to make strong gearbox with main 4gears best design is 3 gears Crawler range and split that gearbox can handle lot more torque mainly because longer ratio of range group in L range

volvo realized this more than 20 years ago and scania exactly in 1991

zf recently released their 12Sxxx gearboxes

usually 16Sxxx gearboxes have lot of problems with "reducer gear"

unfortunately this is pretty often on f/fe2000

Btw, now I drive Century Class and I love non synchro transmission. With some skills I shift faster then synchro with clutching

I had to do some swaps US to EU transmissions and every time we did it we had to add clutch servo. It is easy on Volvo, but a nightmare on Freightliner.

And now we got MAN TGA with 18 st Road ranger... Runs well, needs no clutching to shift, but.... FFR cant calculate gear and reads somethiing wrong on display
