This is a DDEC3 Engine with a DDEC4 ECM... I just recently had A hot ECM program done for my truck in this DDEC4 ECM and everything is perfect except there is a hunting idle.. High idle perfect runs perfect but when its warmed and its # 550 the idle hunts sounds like a big block Chevy with a big cam... But it runs fine and if you put just a little load on the engine while its idling it smooths rite out just put the A/C clutch in or just pull on the wheel a small load and she is fine.. Someone told me they heard of this before and its just a matter of changing one of the values in the ECM but that's all he knew anyone heard of this before please way in on what needs to be done.. Also if it can be done easily with a laptop and if I leave it will it hurt the truck # all... As always thanks in advance...

What is your idle RPM? It needs to be set at 600 RPM. Wasn't sure what the 550 was.
-
idle is 550 but it was always 550 with no problems
-
-
it more then likely is 600 then maybe my tach is a bit off
-
You most likely are showing boost at your ecm. when you don't really have any!!
I know for sure if you put a sensor off a gm gas engine with a pp box it will idle funny, because it shows booost all the time....mine has a display that shows 32 pounds, and smokes like the devil!! -
the ecm has a hard time maintaining its set idle speed due to the hot ecm and a very low percent load.you can try setting the base idle to 650 and setting the lsg droop to 35 rpm or higher.
-
yes it can be easily set with a laptop or prolink and no it will not hurt your engine .have one with 1.2 million on it with 790 hp
-
I usually set to 600-650. 550 is too low idle speed, really. you need DDRS to tune it up.

Someone has done it the easy way and only added some percentual increase of fuel to the entire fuelmap. The right way to do it is to increase fuel only at the higher load points, usually after 60% load.
SHC Thanks this.
